I have just purchased a DJF 116234 datejust, it comes with smooth bezel but i want to swap it for a 'diamond' bezel. 3 trusted dealers said they cant swap the bezel. Has anybody removed a bezel themself? And can giive me some advice on how to do it without damaging the watch please?

thanks

Check you tube, there are videos showing how this is done. I remove and replace bezels frequently to change inserts, crystals, etc. I've done it with a case knife and with a proper bezel removal tool. It's pretty easy to scratch up your bezel, your watch or both until you develop a little skill. I wouldn't mess with it if you've never done it before. Best to let a modder do it for you.

Im just abit scared incase i break the glass or something. I know its probably easy to do but ive never tried before and dont want to ruin a brand new watch. Ive seen some bezels attached to the glass, is this normal? Thx

Plenty of aftermarket diamond bezels, just Google it. Time4diamonds.

Some reps are made in a way that when you remove the bezel the crystal and gasket will come off with it. You would need to use a crystal press to separate them. The crystal in this scenario would be placed back on the watch by hand. Whether the crystal comes off or not, you need a crystal press to replace the bezel.

Just use a case knife opener wrapped with electrical tape. The electrical tape will reduce the marks on the case. You may want to polish with dialux paste and dremel to get the perfect results.

What watch is that? Post a pic of the face/bezel top.

Some bezels are attached with an octagonal wire and cannot be pried off.

emameme Yes, KJ2020 is right, it seems cheaper sub reps have that bezel structure. That was the case with Regmariners for example, I had to force on mine quite hard with a bezel knife to pop it out.
In your case the bezel removing bench might not have sufficient lift gap to remove those, I'd try with a bezel knife, covered with electric tape to avoid case marks.

This is what holds the bezel :

The other thing you can do is try to remove the insert, which will give you access to the wire. You can grab an end of the wire and pull it out one segment at a time. Be careful trying to remove the insert, they crack easily. You can use a flat thin piece of plastic or a toothpick to insert under it and work your way around, raising it a little at a time until you can get a razor blade in to slice through the glue.

But I have removed the insert without problems.
The is a possibility to check which crystal I need to buy
? I don't understand where was fitted.

The crystal fits inside the white gasket surrounding the opening. You need to measure the opening from the inside of the gasket on one side to the other side at its greatest distance (correct diameter). A digital caliper is best, the measurement needs to be accurate.

I think what you need is a Clark's, if you don't already have a crystal. These are the best quality/price ratio and can be bought for around 30$ on ebay.

This reference should fit, please KJ2020 correct me if I'm wrong.
