Hi All: I want to pull the second hand off my wife's quartz Chanel rep (don't ask), but can't figure out how to pull out the crown from the movement. Can someone please direct me. Here's a photo of the movement:

your screwdown crown has come out eh, common problem, had this happen with 2 of my wifes j12's, epoxy them back in.

Dunno how to remove crown though, I did it once on these sorts of movements but don't have any idea how I managed to do it.

Google is your friend!

http://service.seiko.com.au/i/seiko/documents/technicalguides/5M22A&5M23A.pdf

go to page 8 of the pdf file and look for a part called the "setting lever"

then you must pull out the crown of your watch to the 1st or 2nd position, you should then be able to see the "setting lever"

VERY GENTLY push on the dimple at the tip of the "setting lever" with a sharp object and the the crown/stem should easily come right out.

i hope it works out for you

It worked! As always: thanks very much. Aren't forums the coolest. Incidentally, the reason for removing the second hand was aesthetic/practical. The face is quite difficult to read at the best of times--all silver surfaces, and my wife's eyesight isn't the greatest. On top of that, the Chanel face has a second hand that is both quite large, and has two ends. All that complicated the face. Now it is simply easier to read the time--which is apparently what this is all about in the first place
