Yes I have noticed that the Chinese watchmakers pretty much without exception, offer display backs. I think they think its cleverer - and bear in mind (something I suspect people forget) these guys are not robots, they are aspirant young artisans looking to make an impression and - I kid you not - "improve" on things that they see. For them, any display back is superior to an opaque one. I know this seem anathema to an outsider but that's how it is.
The best example of this, for me, is the Arnold & Son large moonphase where instead of making it a double copy, they have put in a large, intricate smiling moon on the reverse side which has no roots to anything I know!
I don't know about other replica buyers but I own a bunch of real watches and I buy replicas because I am fascinated with the mechanical intricacies and the industry economics of it all. I think if you permanently are seeking a cheap version of a "real watch" you are likely to be disappointed. I have a simple Patek which is so thin it's ridiculous. But if that's what I want, I would just get it, right? But these Chinese watches are charming in their own right, to my mind. Let's appreciate them for what they are!
