How do you keep the edge of the polished area sharp and distinct from the brushed area?

On the bevel, that most tiny of polished surface between the two brushed surfaces, how and/or what do you do to prevent the polishing from spilling onto the brushed surface?

I’ve moved to using polish on fine paper over a hard surface for this and, although it is better than any sort of cloth, there is still some spill onto the brushed surface.

you have to give a hand sanding on a hard base 400, 600 and brushing finishing... its brushing and polishing. you don't have to change the case and bracelet shapes. help yourself with finishing tape ... but you must have experience otherwise you lose the shapes.
then there is extreme damage where steel is added ... prices go up

Thank you for the detailed response.
I think this is where service centers lose, they don’t treat the angle transitions carefully and cause ‘rounding’ of the apex.

What substrate do you use for brushing, something very low profile, I assume, and how do you keep the brush ‘ends’ from occasionally touching the polished surface?
Maybe this is where the tape plays a roll?

I repeat, you must have experience, it is not the brush or the brand that makes the difference, but your hands. to prevent the shiny or satin part from being "touched" I use a varnish for the case, for the bracelet I use adhesive tape as in the photo

I got a few scatches from the screwdriver, when I realized the breacelet on my 15500. any chance I can do something about it? it’s not too bad and only on the side of the case, but I can’t make it unseen and it was so unnecessary..

This is a great write up, thank you.

What kind of tape do you use, I assume non adhesive of some sort, but unsure of where to look for it? And, one last question, what is the varnish you use on the case?
