I have received my JF Chrono Diver V2 some weeks ago and now I've found some time to service the new sec@3 and to make this review
First of all, a big big thanks to Ken and his crew from chazingtime.com. You guys are great.
Ok let's start this review with some wrist shots
And now let's move over to the photo box
The backside is also nice with the decorated 7750 movement
The buckle
The strap is very very soft and feels great.
Ok and now let's get started with some interesting thinks.
The most of us AP-heads own a SS Diver and probably it's a JF V7 or a V8.
Here is the new Chrono Diver next to a V7. Just to show you the dimensions of this new watch
Both are 42mm but the most interesting think is the thickness.
The Chrono Diver is thicker than the V7 because of the 7750 movement and the extra sec@3 Chrono module.
The Chrono Diver has exactly the same thickness as a standard sec@12 ROO... 15.6mm. The gen is listed with 14.75mm
Ok and now let's try some strap variations
The black Diver strap
A OEM white rubber strap
And of course the famous JF SS bracelet
I know the summer it's over now, for some of us like me here in Germany or for some of my friends like Don in New York, but some of us live in countries or states with a endless summer and for these guys is the new Chrono Diver the perfect watch.
Just a little example, BBQ with your wife, she likes her steak well done, no problem, because you have a Chrono at your Diver. You like your steak raw? Well it's also no problem because you have a second opportunity to count the time at your watch, the Diver bezel.
So this is probably the only rep with the option to make your wife happy..... oh sorry, I mean to count two times.....
Just kidding, but to be honest, I really like the Chrono Diver. The color really pops and it's a nice contrast to all that SS watches around.
Ok and now let's take a look inside the watch
So, let's go.
First thinks first, we open the case
And everything here is like any other JF ROO's. 8 nuts, a gasket and the case back
We know there is a 7750 underneath the deco but the 3120 deco plate looks really nice
The rotor is fixed with one center screw and the plate with 3 screws. Both is easy to remove
Now we see the 7750, including the customized automatic bridge for the deco plate
I heard this question very often, and yes it's possible to use a deco plate with the old undecorated 7750 movements.
You need the plate AND the fitting automatic bridge. And here you can see a standard 7750 bridge next to the customized bridge for the deco
The bridge for the deco plate has a other shape and is thinner. This generates some extra space for the plate.
But back to the sec@3 movement
You can pull out the movement now from the case
We remove the hands and the dial
And now we see the new sec@3 module
The sec@3 module looks close the the sec@12 but it's not really the same.
I remove the first plate and now we see all gears for the transmission for the sec from 9 to 3 and for the minute counter from 12 to 9
And here we see the first difference to the sec@12 module, many jewels for the gears at the plate
The gears for the sec@3 are red and the gears for the minute hand are green
After removing the gears we find a standard 7750 but without the complete date mechanism, of course.
The rest of the movement is like every other A7750 movement
Well, after I have seen the new sec@3 module in parts and how it is assembled I must say it looks a bit better than the sec@12.
It's still not a perfect solution but I have seen more jewels and I think the module is not so wobbly like the earlier sec@12 modules
