Hi, just wondering whether the Japanese Miyota 9015 found in Royal Oak 15400 is a Self-Winding movement? Or it charges based on the rotor movement?

Is an automatic (self winding movt) mate. You can winding it for 20 turns (clockwise) via the crown and you good to go, this movt is also among the best interms of robustness too.

oh the reason i ask is because i checked this morning and the watch was dead. i winded it a couple times, and wola it started. Thats why i asked, if winding is its only source of power.
Or winding gives it the actual power, and the watch keeps charging on rotor (unless the watch completely stops due to no usage, and needs the initial winding again)?

The miyota 9015 have approximately 40hours of power reserve or more on fully wound, so if you not using it for about let say 50hours it will be dead, your watch is both manually wind (via the crown) and automatically wind (via the rotor) to gain its power reserve.

so if i get it right, say my watch is completely dead, i wind it to start it again, or shaking the rotor couple times does the trick as well?
Both does the trick mate, better you gently shake it, set the time and put on your wrist.

A car won't start itself until you turn the key to wind the engine up. Then driving keeps it going. You need to wind it ideally to full power reserve then as long as you're wearing it you'll always have 40+ hours once you take it off, and will gradually top up back to full again if worn after an 8 hour sleep gap. Unless you use a winder to store it in.

How does the changing of date works? Is it the same in A7750?
Because in A7750 movements (specially the Chrono), I know that it's not good to change the date between 10PM - 3:00AM. Because you can damaged the machinery as you are forcing it.

In general, I make it a habit to set the hands of a watch to 6:30 before changing the date. For the miyota do avoid date changes between 9-3 as well.

I bought a pp 5710 (miyota movm), lately I realized a weird thing about the movement. When i pull the crown to the 3rd position (to adjust the hour), the oscillating weight spinning like crazy (the watch itself is releasing all the charge!!). Sorry if i dont use the correct term. But in plain English, whenever i try to adjust the time, it loses all the power. I have to push the crown back to the 1st position and wind it again.
i feel like some locking mechanism is broken or loose, that is why it is releasing all the charge at once at 3rd position.
anyone noticed the same thing and anyone know how to fix it?? Thanks

Firstly, do you mean that you think that the mainspring is releasing all its tension when watch is put in the hack position and watch comes to a complete stop therafter?
Without looking at the watch, it may be a click spring or ratchet wheel issue, and yes it can be fixed. Not a difficult fix but the watch will need to be disassembled for the repair.
