"Xing" Patrick Rolex DJ41 126300 Franken Build

After reading @j888hnt thread on his beautiful Mint Green @xingpatrick built DJ41, I know I will need one

Pm'ed Jason for Patrick's contact and journey begins.

13th Nov, Contacted Patrick and sent over a Spec that I wanted.

- Clean Base
- Clean Oyster Bracelet
- VS3235 Movement, serviced & regulated
- Gen Grey Dial
- Gen DW
- Gen Hands
- Gen Crown
- Gen Crystal
- Gen Smooth Bezel

I guess I was lucky, Patrick replied within the hour and quoted me a price.

The Double Lucky part, he replied he had one partly built Grey Dial in stock.

Price agreed.

Deposit sent to Patrick.

Pictures he sent me:

Patrick said, he will swap the movement out, bracelet to Oyster, service & regulate movement and fit Gen Crown. Watch will be ready in 4days.
He said I am lucky (I was over the moon) because he had a built watch in stock Clean Based with Gen Dial, Hands, Crystal and Bezel, he only needs to perform abit of work.

Then he sent me these pictures. He had asked his watch smith to start work and these are work in progress.

Super Happy and Excited

Update to my order:

14th Nov 24 - Discuss Spec, Pictures Received and Deposit Paid
19th Nov 24 - Received QC Pictures & List of completed work

** Patrick advise that he can't polish the Rehaut, he said he never done one before. Also advised me that Clean's Rehaut is very good as is.

I Greenlighted the watch, QC pics were not in high res but from previous reports, I believe Patrick is a TD with Pride. (And I am abit of a dumb dumb when checking QC pics, don't really know what to look for) so I just trust Patrick.

From my experience, you ask him to supply the base watch and tell him what mods you like.

Example:
Clean Base DJ41 with Jubilee Bracelet
Change to VS Movement
Change to Gen Blue Dial
Change to Gen Hands
Change to Gen Date Wheel
Change to Xing Fluted Bezel
Change to Deep Crystal or Gen
Use Std Clean Crown
Service & Regulate movement

Note - yes price normally includes shipping from my understanding.

Meh. It's a bit strange laying out the movement part on a texture with loose fibres.
Is the crown all there or a strange shape?

I've always wanted to know if a rhodium dial is great looking on the wrist. Please let us know if you love it when you have it in hand! I was surprised the modder didn't just polish the rehaut for you but it's not necessary for a super looking watch

Watch just arrived

Quick Photos - taken diff angle to show the sunburst effect of the Rhodium Dial

Small problem found, see larger than normal gap between Crown and Case. Spoke to Patrick @xingpatrick about it and he replied promptly, Gen Crown don't work well with Clean Case, he will try to find a solution (he said he will ask other watch smiths if they have a better way) worse come to worse, I will have a Clean Crown fitted back on. We agreed that I will send watch back to him. (I am lucky I am based in Hong Kong so it's much easier for me to send watch back to China).

@McDuck888 spotted a mark on the crown as pictured above. All Gen parts Patrick supplies are used so a mark here and there it's not uncommon. Without a 5 x loup it's hard to spot and it doesn't bother me enjoying the Watch. So guys please be aware parts are used. For me for the price Patrick charges I have no grudge with the parts quality. He does send QC before shipping. Each person have different level of acceptance to cost, quality ratio, please decide yourself what can be accepted.

Now back to the good, exciting bits. The Gen Dial is so so so good, with Gen White Gold hands. The sunburst effect of the dial, it's glamorous (love it), the sparkle of the Gen hands (glittering away) and the clarity of the gen crystal just enhances this Nice Nice Feel. Now I got a Rep with perfect cyclops, accurate magnification of the dw, Super Happy.



Another DJ41 on order with Patrick just just now. I guess I am hooked . To me it's not a very high outlay for a very Gen looking watch that I really like. I do like the DJ41 a lot for how it wears/ low key presences/ classic Rolex looks and now I can build them to my spec. This is Great feeling to me!

I felt extremely rude pointing out what I thought I saw about the winding crown. - I told someone off for circling something with a paint tool just last week! :O Sorry about that. I can't believe you builder didn't disclose this info to you. I don't rate his builds. But that gen dial is stonkingly beautiful for sure.
