Wives don't get it

I had to tell this story. And I'd like you're opinion. As you all know I recently purchased a DJ for the misses. She is hell on watches. If she doesn't break them she loses them. So buying her a gen is out of the question. So I picked this one up and swapped the jubilee out for an oyster band. This thing is nice. Perfect weight and feel. MOP face. Everything she likes. We actually walked into an AD to compare. One of the sales people er..clerks saw it and grabbed her wrist. I nearly shit but then she just drooled over it. Mission accomplished.

The next day she wore it into work for the first time. Before she left I told her, "Now when you show this people you work with, remember they know me, so they will not suspect this is a rep. They probably won't even ask.

Later that afternnon I showed up to take her to our anniversary dinner. It was a special occasion so I was wearing my gen Daytona. While I was waiting her boss wandered by and we began to talk. She mentioned she had seen the gift I had given her. I said, "Yeah I wanted to get her an all gold one like mine but she thought it was too much. She looked at my watch and said....

Wow...That one looks real too!

It turns out when she went into work that morning she walked around and said, "Hey look at the fake watch I got."

I tried to explain to her that the people she worked with would forever believe that every watch that I had on my wrist was fake. She just didn't get it.

Damn thats funny. My wife is totally on board about the rep thing, but you just never know what they are going to say. Ah the minefields we negotiate with our other half. I have been married 25 years and I still don't have a clue!

All kidding aside I would've told her boss: "I told her it was a fake because she made a fit about me buying her another Rolex... since she keeps losing them all the time" 8)

BTW do you have a link to the exact same Rolex? I'm thinking of getting one for my mom, I don't like her carrying her gen everywhere she goes, specially when she's stuck in traffic since she just loves leaving her car window open...

Unfortunately I do not have a link. I had to get it privately. They don't normally come with an Oyster band rather a jubilee. I swapped that out. I wouldn't wish one of those pieces of crap on my worst enemy (well maybe Sylar). Anyway, the movement is Asian. I could've spent more for a better movement but the watch has no complications so I feel it doesn't need it. Plus she's gonna tear it up anyway. I was more concerned about the outward appearance. Either way, it keeps balls on accurate time.

My camera is dying but I have a pic. MOP with diamond markers. What do you think?

I bought a ladies datejust with the smooth bezel, MOP dial, roman numerals, in TT from Stan with the oyster bracelet. It was exactly the watch my wife asked for and Stan was able to source it. As you said it too is an asian mvmt. But it runs great and she does not care at all.

I forgot about that! Yeah the smooth bezel. Everywhere I looked all I found was fluted. The asian movement is great.

I got my wife a Tag (Aquaracer Rep) and she said, "Wow that's nice, I want the real thing eventually" She wears it daily. Then in the mean time I got a set of his and her ROLEX Yatchy's (ETA REPs) and she said, "I don't want that shit".

I (R2) am still holding out on the real deal but it is inevitable, she will get the Gen Tag soon enough I am sure. Going to Vegas in May.

That's a funny story though. Still can't stop laughing.

Yeah Fakey my wife does not like the fluted bezel at all. I bought her a standard TT ladies datejust about a year ago and when she got it she picked it apart. "I don't like the bracelet, I don't like the bezel. Get me one like I saw at the Dealer." I had to laugh, I was like, "what if it was real?" She says, " I would keep it." WTF!
