Why is the JF Explorer I's font so strange?

Have a look at this photo from the Rolex website.
It seems to me that Rolex may have made some of the V2 Explorer 1 214270 with the uneven lettering in the word explorer.
maybe they used some dials left from the white gold 3,6,9 dials and just replaced the numbers with luminous ones.

Not unusual for Rolex to change dials during production of a watch.
