The 111h and the 112h are basicly the same watch. One has the seconds at nine and one does not. Which one to get all depends on if you like the second hand or not. Both are very simple and smooth watches. I think the 111h is probably one of my all time favorites.

Now who to get it from depends on which model you decide to get. Any of the dealers are going to offer these 2 models.

If you want the Swiss with a swan neck then I would be looking at Joshua or Andrew. You can get a model that does not have a working swan neck, no super lume and needs the cannon pin fixed.

If you want the Swiss with a working swan neck then you could go with Eddie (for the 111h) It would still have no super lume, but everything else would be pretty much dead on.

If you want just on the wrist accuracy you could go with one from David. No swan neck or name on the movement, bu the dial and every other part of the watch is pretty dead on. It also has super lume on the dial and hands.

If you really want to go crazy you could buy one from Eddie and add a Davidsen dial (either 111 or 112 dial) and hand set to make it spot on. Then you have a lumed dial, no cannon pin problem, working swiss swan neck and everything else. Add a nice strap on there and you have one hell of a watch. :D

cool, i have never built a watch before and i have very little patience but as you put it it would be more dead on and maybe kinda fun. is it very difficult to take apart a watch and add pieces and parts and then reasemble it again Roeod4?

ok so i get the 111 from eddie lee and then buy the 112 dial and hand set from davidsen and then a 44mm SS bracelet from precious time and all pow!
ok what if i get this stuff and i can not put it together(no tools ect...)?

Well, you will have to buy tools. There are a couple that you just have to have in order to do the job. Most of them a pretty cheap and can be purchased here or on ebay.

As for taking the watch apart...http://replica-watch.info/forum ... m.php?f=54 Enzo showed me how. Seriously I am probably one of the most mechanically declined people you will ever meet. If I can do it, pretty much anyone can do it.

Also, if you get it and find out you can't DIY, then you can ask for help here and/or possibly find someone who can help out. If all else fails you can always sell off the parts.

Before you embark in this quest. The Davidsen dial will not be straight fit on the EL's case. You will have to grind it.

If David makes a base sandwich dial, just buy the watch from him. Who gives a rats behind how the movement looks. I wear my watches dial up.

Thats my opinion anyway.

Regards,

Oh it will funtion the exact same as any other. The only reason I mentioned the combo was becasue you mentioned the swan neck.

David's watches are top notch. Having a 111 or 112 from him is the MBW of Panerai, IMHO.

On most reps, not a damn thing. Ont he ones that have working swan necks they are supposed to help keep accuracy. I have never had an issue with my watches keeping good time, so i have never really seen a need for it.

The main reason for it is to make the reps look more real.

@ sexy beast :)

the reason that gens created the swans neck in the first place ,was to improve the accuracy of actually making a positive, repeatable adjustment ! the swans neck is basically a spring that puts preassure on the adjusting screw , thereby removeing any backlash the threads clearances introduce in making an adjustment to the regulation of the watchs "speed". that is , if you turn the adjustment screw 1/10 of a turn in against the swans neck, it will move the needle 1/10 in that direction . if you loosen the screw 1/10 turn the adjusting needle will follow the screw and move 1/10 in that direction , as the swans neck presses it against the screw and removes the loose backlash from the screw threads. its all about positive ease speed and accuracy of adjustment ! ALL precision adjustable target rifle sights have this feature of spring loaded backlash removal. the functional swans neck is not about apearances , but the non functional ones are lol. hope this clears up any confusion about this :)

Im in the same situation...

From many various pics it seems that crown guard isnt always flush with the case, there is a slight gap - is this common ?

Also is the swiss swan neck just as reliable as the non-swan neck - or whats the most reliable movt to get...there seems to be a new swan neck with a little bolt thing touching the lever, is this just a cosmetic add-on to a regular movt, or are there other manufacturing difference...

The reason I lean towards the swiss is because I assume the dial, case and finishing will be of a better quality, hence more expensive, and the more expensive ones are the swiss movts...and I couldnt find a saphire asian movt...

Any comments would be appreciated, the 111H Im pretty sure is my next watch, I just cant pick one...

OK, I have never recieved a PAM with a crown guard gap. I have heard of people getting them, but I think that most of the time it is just a loose screw (not on the person, but on the watch).

The swan neck does not make the movement of the watch more or less reliable. The swan neck is only there to help regulate the time. On 90% of the reps out there it is only a cosmetic add on. The newest version with a working swan neck is actually supposed to be designed straight from an original Panerai movement. There is some debate at the moment as to the reliability of this movement becasue of some physical differences.

The Swiss and Asian versions of any of the Luminor PAMs does not have any effect on the case, dial, hands or anything else. It is just a different movement. Andrew, Joshua, Silix and Davidsen all offer the 111 with a sapphire w/ AR and an Asian movement.

Thank you for the quick reply...It seems that the new 111H Asian and Swiss movts (with swan-neck regulator) look pretty much identical, this is from the dealer pics of Eddie, Ruby, and Josh (all priced at around $240 USD or so.)

You know with the Sub, there are many different vendor variations, etc. But with the 111H are they mostly all the same? Because I havent really seen any dealer comparisions of 111Hs, for the most part everyone seems to be happy with their 111H... :D

As you wrote earlier I will check out Davids 111 - Are his watches custom/modded, or right from the factory ?

Thank you.
