Since he is a relative of mine, I will plug Buster's movie "The General" (1926) as a classic.

"El Cid" (1961) for historic drama and Sophia Loren in her prime (Hot!). Say what you will about Heston. It is good stuff regardless.

"Bonnie and Clyde" (1967) to see Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway in their prime, under fantastic direction by Arthur Penn.

"Alien" (1979) Grab the edge of your seat and wait for Sigourney Weaver's money shot. Genius Ridley Scott directs.

"Unforgiven" (1992) Clint Eastwood's masterpiece, IMO.

"Glengarry Glen Ross" (1992) For Alec Baldwin's soliloquy and a fantastic cast graced with amazing writing.

For laughs: Anything by Mel Brooks will do in a pinch. (“It’s pronounced ‘Fronkensteen.’?†) And, of course, "Tommy Boy" (1995).

That's a few that come to mind

Wow a kin to Buster Keaton, that is cool.

The line from Unforgiven I always like is when Gene Hackman is dying and says he doesn't deserve to die like this and Clint's great quote, "deserve's got nothin to do with it." It's very true, things happen to us in life good and bad that we don't necessarily deserve.

Another thumbs up for Metropolis, forgot about that one.

My maternal grandmother was a Cutler, as was Buster's mother Myra. Buster was born in a trunk, as they used to say back then.

My grandmother gave me a picture of Myra, Joe and Buster. This one is taken from his web site, the Damfinos:

Loving this thread -great idea. Some others, some less mainstream and more recent, with or without CGI that made for great viewing:
Source Code (2011): time flashback SF-thriller
3:10 to Yuma (2007): intense Russel Crowe as outlaw, Western
Django Unchained: this was a Tarantino-style, reminding Sergio Leone bloody but fun Western, depending how seriously it´s taken:)
Cassandra´s Dream: enjoyable thriller from Woody Allen with Collin Farrell about 2 brothers choosing the route of crime
Firewall (2006): great Harrison Ford as informatic specialist trying to free the captive family, in the style of the equally good 1994 Clear and Present Danger
Law Abiding Citizen (2009): intriguing revenge-movie as the perpetrator, whose family was killed, is himself in prison, takes on the whole system
Drive (2011): stuntman and getaway driver movie with Kavinski soundtrack
Limitless: writer accesses 100% of his brain function by taking a pill and becomes a financial wizzard/addict
Man on a Ledge: well done bancrobbing style movie
Reclaim (2014): tense and gripping pursuit movie about a desperate couple looking for their abducted adoptive daughter
Turcs and Caicos (2014): MI5 agent encounters CIA agent with Bill Nighy, Christopher Walken, Wynona Rider and Ralph Fiennes, part of a TV movie trilogy, sequel to Page Eight, slowly developing and tricky who´s who and what´s what..
State of Play 2009 and The Next Three Days with Mobi soundtrack and exceptional escape/pursuit/ending: both great action thrillers with Russell Crowe in his best, pursuit, drama, crime

Daywatch Law Abiding Citizen is unbelievably good, Gerard Butler is excellent in it.

Any streaming website and torrent website you all watch or get your movie from other than going to the cinema, buying DVD/Blu-rays.

I am waiting for "Don't Breathe" horror movie to be out in HD. "Lights Out" is not bad, produced by James Wan (director of Conjuring series)
