I believe these have been around for a while and are known as being so ridiculously accurate as to be indistinguishable, so I guess it's not impossible that they are gen parts.

I think Robert knows more about this watch, I think he can get them too.

So let me get this straight: You can buy all the gen parts seperately, including the movement, and use ONLY a rep deployant (and possibly hands - not specified), and sell it for significantly less than buying a gen from an AD?
Really?

It doesn't add up to me. But it's a nice looking watch - buy it if you are worried about some Cartier expert (do those exist?) spotting your wrist and detecting the tells of a rep.

These are true COUNTERFEIT watches in the worst sense...>>>

Designed to swindle unsuspecting tourists in Hong Kong, and elsewhere who actually believe they're getting a "great deal" on a genuine Cartier from a "Cat St." back alley dealer ....
Sadly, stuff like this casts OUR harmless dalliances into "non fraudulent"(we're not trying to swindle anyone) repdom in a bad light..!!
In many cases, even an AD would be fooled by them...Only a serial # check would tell !!
there are other examples of this nefarious activity, but AFAIK, only the Cartier's have shown up in the replica collecting sphere..
Perhaps the fact that Cartier doesn't REALLY build watches, they just assemble expensive parts as jewelery items explains their availability...And any factory that supplies such parts always has a "back door"..!!

I was taking a look at the very same watch, along with the Cartier Ballon Bleu model that Puretime stock claiming it has gen parts too.

When asked in the comments section by someone, the response doesn't exactly fill me with confidence when they say something along the lines of "we can only trust what the dealer has told us". Surely you would get something like this checked before buying it at a premium?

This is also interesting, I wasn't aware some of our dealers were also selling gens! Has anyone enquired with Angus about a gen watch? I wonder if they're much cheaper than the RRP.

Well the regular rep is so good (ordering one for a friend) that l'd say it's not worth the ton of extra cash.
A rep is still a rep at the end of the day, worth remembering.
It doesn't matter if it's built from 100% gen parts, still a rep and you will know it deep inside.
Buy the 3-400$ one and if you love it buy a new movement and a classy strap and you will still have quite a few bucks left!
And to round off this rant, there is NO WAY in he@l I would take a "dealers word" for the truth (see waterproofing service) have had some issues with puretime that didnt exactly go smooth, one watch barely fixed, the other one not even a reply...
So coughing up that much doe for a watch that they "think" is mostly gen is just crazy.

My 2cents for what they are worth.

If it's the same one Robert had they do appear to be a lot of gen parts in it. the MVT is gen for starters. Hopfully Robert will chime in shortly.

If there are all these gen parts.. there is only one way to test it... take it into cartier for a service... see what they say ;)

You do not want, (or need) to take it to Cartier to figure out it's gen parts or not.

........baaad move...

I agree, though I doubt highly that a trusted dealer wouldn't be offering anything other than what he's described in the listing- at least as far as this listing is concerned.

Even at this price, I don't see it any differently as a franken we would put together, and the price seems fair enough to me.

I heard about these a while ago - although, I was under the impression they were all gone...

Is this another production run?

A dealer would spot it immediately (assuming he was looking for a fault) because of the serial number.

Theses are believed to have been out together from gen parts out the back door of the gen factory in China. Where they got the MVTs from is anyone's guess but they are confirmed as the real deal. Robert's watchmaker said there is no way they are anything but a gen Cartier MVT. The rest of the bits are open to debate but are either gen or it's the first ever 1:1 rep. If you fit a gen strap and deployent this is utterly indistinguishable from an AD gen.

These (in a gen box/papers) are what you see on Ebay all the time as people more than double their money in a week or so. There are usualy no less than five available.
