So I've been working on selecting my first one or two PAN reps. I've been talking with DSN and he's been very helpful. I'm definitely going to get at least one of his watches, probably a 111H or a 127.

However, I'm starting to really fall in love with the vintage models. I really like the California dial, but I'm looking for something with a more distressed look. I came across this thread:

http://forum.replica-watch.info/vb/showthread.php/3646-cali-homage-50640?t=50640

and I have to say that it's pretty much exactly what I'm looking for: a 3646 case, a really nice domed crystal (similar to DSNs Fiddy) and a fantastic dial with those great blued distressed hands.

What I want to know is: are any people out there that can use quality parts (DSN) and produce something just like this? (I wrote Unregistered who did the watch in the link above but haven't heard back yet.)

Thanks in advance for any ideas or pointers. I have to say that I wasn't really a Panerai fan until I found this side and started to learn about the company and it's history. I'm really starting to get hooked!

Wow! Did I ask a noob question? Or is there just not a lot of interest in this kind of mod? I kinda expected at least a few pointers to people who might be up for this kind of project. But if I'm way off base, let me know. This forum is a great source of info...lemme know if I'm going about this wrong. Thanks!

Check in the "Vintage Watch" forum for some folks that could probably help you with this project. Making realistic "vintage" watches is an art. As for parts, it all depends on how accurate you want to get.

There's a guy in England who I heard about on the board here, who does the most amazing vintage stuff and who has a web site. Can't remember his name..... He had several in the 'vintage' section recently--titles were something like 'cafe au lait project'. Seems to me he does exactly what you are interested in. I'm with you all the way on those vintage watches. Glorious. .....I'm sorry but I can't seem to find the URL to his web site. Will post it if I find it.
