Ha , Good Post Phil,
I had one of these phones. That was a waste of cash. Used it for a month then put it back in the box and sold it. Terrible. Such a great concept but the phone interface was Nokia and boy it was behind the times. Lets face it it is really a status piece, in saying that the 'Concierge' feature is useful when needed.
Saw it for the first time at a boutique opening gala 2 years ago. Honestly it looked ridiculous (sorry tasty). The suede back and the swarovski row framing the display were nice touches... if done right, but it wasn't. The worst part though, was the inferior software. Nokia-ish UI combined with outdated android 2.3, when my phone was already packed with a 4.2.
Back when phones weren't... um... smart, vertu made more sense. There was no need to worry about software being up to date, since nokia's UI was practically the only kind of UI out there. Times have changed.
Funny, now that I think about it Vertu isn't that different from the luxury watch industry. Often behind the times tech wise, focusing more on fancy design, materials and gimmicks.
Cool story behind it but I don't understand why someone would decide to buy it regardless how much it costs... design is just not working for me... and on top of that it's technologically modest
I'm working in smartphone repair shop, Vertu phones are just jokes !
