THE GOOD, THE UGLY AND THE REALLY UGLY
- The blue dial is beautiful in any light and the only sign of wear is to the clasp - it's missing the little "nub" on the clasp's strap-sizing-pin. Shooter doesn't know technical terms but you can see in pictures and more details below.
- Cosmetically:
- The watch itself (case, crystal, crown, etc.) are all in fantastic condition without any signs of wear (likely because Shooter tried it on a few times at home in hopes he could pull it off in public but chickened out every time and put the watch back in a winder).
- The rubber strap is in great condition but the clasp is "kinda broken." The claps works just fine to secure the watch on your wrist and once on your wrist, it's not going anywhere... but there is a little metal nub that is supposed to be screwed into the tapped end of the male pin on the clasp that holds the strap snuggly at all times. This watch is missing that little nub (probably my fault for not properly tightening it but I'm not pointing fingers) and I would have went looking for a replacement if it really bothered me. Instead, I went the free and reversible route of a little dab of rubber cement to hold help hold the strap in place sturdy when taking it on and off. So realistically, a new complete replacement strap or simply a new clasp would fix that issue but it leads us to the other potential dealbreaker for many, the movement.
- Functionally: It tells good time and the chrono works... however, there are helicopter blades that make less noise than this watch's movement when in use All kidding aside, if the watch is wound and stationary, it runs quietly. But when trying it on, simply moving my arm too quickly and theres an auditory metal on metal swooshing noise loud enough to be noticeable.
So, does this watch have some faults, you betcha. But could it also make for a great entry into the rep game, or a good parts watch, or a project, or just as an additional flex in the SOTC pic updates? Absolutely.
Given it's condition and mostly because Shooter wants to free up some watch space, Shooter is asking for a mere $100 + shipping CONUS only.
