Good point. My idea however was to try it as simple as possible with stuff i already have at home. I have for example not removed the hands from the dial while doing this and only used water, coffee and cue tips.Rather than use coffee you can just use watercolours. It's easier to get the colour you want and can be easily removed if not happy with results
Interesting... doesn't look gen to me, from the logo, the pip, the bezel printing or the crappy lume... My gen's lume is completely flawless, this one looks like it was done by a monkeyLooks gen to me! Hands, lume color, dial, bezel and pipe looks good
Interesting try. As long as you just experiment and don't mind sacrificing the watch, I`m curious to see the final outcome. You surely gave those hands a rough time. Coffee is quite corrosive with a pH value of about 5, it will attack also other surfaces, so make sure you really dry it properly, also to not leave humidity in a closed case afterwards.Exactly!!!! Lets have some fun with it. It was nowhere near a NWBIG at first so a good start to experiment with.
When I compare it to my pictures of the ZF it really looks like gen! Quality of the hands, shape of the lume pip and so on!Interesting... doesn't look gen to me, from the logo, the pip, the bezel printing or the crappy lume... Same idea here too...Looks gen to me! Hands, lume color, dial, bezel and pipe looks good
Thanks for the info, did not know about the corrosive properties / pH value of coffee. I have dried it carefully with a hairdryer.Interesting try. Did you visit the tech section to see what the experts use to age their builds?
In any case, compliments for the experimenting!
Thanks for the info. Something to think about when i am finished with the hands and dial.Using a hairdryer was not a good idea given you didn't remove the hands/movement it will dry out the oils used.
I Imagine it will fit.@germansubmarine or anyone, do you have experience with the half link from Uncle Seiko on the rep bracelet? Would that fit?
I understand that for the GEN but its too expensive for the Rep. I can get a second hand Uncleseiko one. See of that fits.I Imagine it will fit.
By the way, I just bought myself a steelreef easy link for my gen black bay 58. works the same way like Rolex easylink on explorer, GMT and so on! 150€ but worth every penny!
@germansubmarine well hereby confirmation for all who seeks an answer. The half link from Uncle Seiko for the Black Bay 58 fits the bracelet from a ZF BB58!I Imagine it will fit.
