This is a detailed review of the new GF Glashutte Senator Sixties 39-52-06-02-04, with lots of gen v. rep photos.

First here, can you tell which is gen and which is rep?
**answer, left is gen and right is rep, did you get it?
Now we start with the overall look, the rep is pretty much on point with the gen
under warm light, no discolouration (left rep right gen)
under cold light, no discolouration (left rep right gen)
natural light, no discolouration (left rep right gen)
natural light on a angle, no discolouration (left rep right gen)
on the side you can see the case is pretty much the same (up rep bottom gen)
the structure of the case and lugs are very well made
the overall look of the movement of rep is similar to gen
the rep has a gold wheel while gen has silver
gen has a very beaultiful whirl on the wheel, too bad rep cannot do that
I think friends with sharp eye already spotted that, the rep is thicker than the gen (left gen right rep)
Let's dig into the movement
from the red line, we can tell that the case itself is the same size, the difference is the bottom lid
gen thickness is 10.12mm
rep thickness is 11.65mm, 1.53mm thicker than the gen
actually 1.53mm difference is very hard to spot when on hand
Ok, let's dig down deeper
an overview of the movement, the overall structure is roughly the same
you can see that the movement of the rep is thicker than the gen
once you take off the crown, you can see the rep has 2 water-resistance rubber, same as gen, shows a lot of work from the maker
the bottom lid overview, the structure and engraving are both done well
however because the movement is thicker on the rep, the bottom lip has to be thicker as well
so how much thicker?
gen is 3.79mm
rep is 5.2mm, 1.41mm thicker than gen
front view of the case, pretty much the same
45 degree angle, still no difference
lug is pretty much the same
Let's measure the case, we can hardly see any difference here
gen is 6.77mm
rep is 6.89mm, 0.12mm thicker than gen. We also measured bottom lid is 1.41mm thicker, so 1.41+0.12= 1.53mm, all matches
the crown is very well made, without label, you can hardly tell
all the grooves of rep matches the gen (left gen right rep)
the font, colour, and hands of rep pretty much matches the gen. The maker directly used gen to make the model, as you can see the gen's dial was damaged, shows the maker's sincerity
same grove on markers on rep as gen
logo and font all matches up (up gen bottom rep)
Let's go even deeper now
underneath is a seagull 2824, very reliable movement, low breakage rate
the graving of the logo on the tang buckle is pretty much the same
Conclusion,
this is definitely a watch that is worth buying, in the front it can definitely said to be exactly the same as the gen, although 1.53mm thicker, it wouldn't feel much on hand, since the rep is only 11.56mm thick. If someone wears it on hand and show it to me, I can hardly tell gen from rep.
After the review I believe you all know a bit more about the back. As for rep watches, the movement is that hardest problem of all, especially when repping a self-made movement, the only way now is through decorated plate, such as Pam and AP.
We all wish rep to be better, and that is what we're working on. However, sometime we have to take a step back and understand the many difficulties, not only the movement but also the cost. When you think about the price you pay for this and for the gen, you should be pretty happy.
Pros:
1. extremely high front similarity, no matter natural, cold, warm light, super high standard
2. dial, font, letter details are on point
3. the dome glass(?) is very similar to gen in its curve
Cons:
1. 1.53mm thicker than gen
2. the whirl effect could not be replicated
