Ti vs SS on Pannies

I have just compared some reps at a Malaysian rep watch dealer today and the PAM 177 which is a titanium watch seems so damn light compared to the PAM 005 rep I have.

Are the gen titanium pannies really so light, just because they're built with titanium rather than ss?

My concern is that the rep PAM 177 I saw felt so damn light it felt kinda fake...

Can someone convince me that gen titanium models are indeed light as I have mentioned? If so, how much lighter should they be compared to SS models?

Real Titanium is a very light metal, that's why they make golf club heads out of it. It's very strong and durable. I have not felt the weight of a gen Pam Ti but my Tantalium has a Ti case and it is "lighter" than my other PAM SS reps. I would think there are enough forum members with high end 177H's that can verify the actual weight. :)

i can only vouch on the weight of Ti being so light as my new weddig ring I can hardly feel.

Titanium is roughly two-thirds the weight of steel. So, all else being equal, it should weigh 33% less of the total weight of a 44mm SS case.

I have no idea what a SS 44mm case weighs, though. Sorry. :(

I have a 177h now, and I've owned a 111h. the difference in weight is...amazing, you can tell right away which one is ss.

when i went to an AD and tried on a 177h it felt EXACTLY the same as the 177h rep i have. by exact I mean the weight. obviously, there are differences (from the back  ) but the weight felt dead on.

I say go for a 177h, anyone who knows wtf they are talking about will know right away you are wearing a superior alloy watch.

Good to know. Still have to add a 177H to my collection; but I have a 172 [ss bezel, Ti case] and it feels lighter :) Of course, it's *supposed* to be Tantalium - but not doable in a rep!

Aah.... So which is which? Is it super light that you can hardly feel it? Or should I expect at least some weight coz of the movement?

Anyway, I'm eyeing PAM177 next... just 3 days after I got Davidsen's 005. :p

Davidsen doesn't seem to have 177. Am looking at 2 possible source:

EL's PAM177h with adjustable swan neck.

Sean's at ETASwiss

Has anyone gotten any PAM177h from them or dealt with them on other PAMs before? Any comment on the quality? Or other recommendation?

you can feel the weight, but its not as nearly as noticeable as the 111h

Indeed it's light. I have owned PAM036 and PAM 177. They are both in Ti and weight much less than the SS counterpart.

192? Close... but it's Tantalium rather than Titanium, isn't it?

Nevertheless, the brushed metal look is what we're looking for, no?

Indeed the real one is made of Tantalium (rare materials).
There are newer 192 reps that have non Ti case with see thru caseback.

Now why are we looking for Ti 192 then? Isn't Ta supposed to be a "very hard, heavy, gray metallic element that is exceptionally resistant to chemical attack below 150°C"? Then the ss versions are supposed to weigh closer to the real one then Ti, no?

Hmm... might consider the 172 :p

Tantalium is light like Titanium. More scratch resistance, more corrosion proof.
