I told this a couple years ago, but here it is again...
Around the turn of the century, 1910, the President of Mexico
travelled to London England, and while there, he tried some Hellmans
Mayonaise. He loved it, and brought back many cases of the famous condiment to his
homland and people all over also went crazy about mayonnaise.
In 1912, the largest shipment of Hellmans Mayonaise, 300 crates, were loaded
on a ship and set sail to New York where they would be transferred to Mexico city.
Sadly, the ship carrying the mayonaise was the Titanic, which, as everyone knows sank
on April14th.
The loss of the mayoniase was a national tragedy, there was much lamenting,
and gnashing of teeth.
So overcome with grief were the Mexican Paople that they named a special day
in honor of the sad event........It is called........."Sinko De Mayo"
