Swan Neck not working?

Hey guys, I recently got a new PAM111H with the swan neck regulator from a reputable dealer. This one does not touch pin between the "+" and "-". Only the needle on the top has contact.

The swan neck just sort of sits there. Does that mean it is not working or not adjusted properly thus not working? Should I get it checked out or just let it be as it is. According to the description, it should be working.

Here is a picture:

Thanks guys!

I may be wrong but just because it's there doesn't mean that it's functioning. I know some dealers make a point of saying "functioning" swan neck. Could be in this case that is just there for show.

The dealer should have pointed out to you this was a 111H with non-working or non-functioning or decorative or...whatever - swan-neck regulator.

Yes, it's Swiss ETA 6497-1 with decorated CDG bridges etc, but still only a cosmetic swan-neck regulator. There are only few PAM rep models available with this particular Swiss ETA movement with CDG bridges and "WORKING" S/N regulators, two that come to mind are top end Black Seal (183H) and Lefty (217H). Both sell in excess of $300 from most of the dealers.

I've got the same 111H as you, with decorative S/N, although on mine the regulator needle is squeezed between the screw and the S/N tip...however, I don't give a r@ts a$$ about it :) and you shouldn't either.

It's a good quality rep, wear it in good health !

cheers,

My Fiddy from EL has it and it "seems" to work, the needle moves and the regulator stays flush with it....but who knows :?

OK, so, does that mean all movements have swan neck regulators are really not for working but "seeing"? :?:

Well, only double checking because I am about to PayPal one of our trusted dealers for a 217H with this thing on it.....

Thanks!

Well, you just might get lucky and get the actual working one...it all depends on how well it was assembled by those final mov't assemblers in Asia...don't forget that the S/N regulator on those movements is not a genuine Swiss ETA part, it's made and bolted to the movement by mov't rep makers.

...alternativelly you could just ignore the whole S/N regulator thing, I do anyway.
