I've had my fiddy from Andrew for a month now. Time to buy my first strap. I've searched the forum and looked at several dealers sites. At first, I had sticker shock because of some $150+ straps (beautifully crafted, however). I have found a nice selection in the $100 range and a few in the $50 range. My biggest complaint about the strap that came with the watch is, it is very stiff, perhaps if I let the goat chew on it a while. Will a $50 strap from TC or Don's need a breakin period? So will a $100 strap need no breakin?? I just want a soft, comfortable, black strap. Please educate me :?

This link may help http://www.paneristi.com/archives/strapking/index.html

I just order my first ones from Bob but don't have them yet. The vertigo, calf and buffalo ones I hear people talk over and over again about how soft they are. I have a real aligator one from TC. A bit stiff for a while but beautiful strap.

There are many more here that are serious strap hounds so I know they will be of more help.

I hate the rep straps. For a Panerai they are just too thin. I have some straps that are really thick and they actually make the watch look better. A good strap will be pretty soft and smooth. It will be very comfortable too.

I am a big fan of TCStraps. Not just because Elliot is here, but because I like the product. If you are looking at his site, make sure you are looking with the Dark Side coupon in mind. If you don't know about this, it can be found in his dealer section on the forum. He also does some Big Balls specials that will allow a $150 strap to be $50 sometimes.

I think the best way to get a strap or 2 that you really like, is to look in the For Sale section. I have seen plenty of $150 straps for $50 in there. You can also remember that if you do get a strap you don't like, they are pretty easy to sell.

For a first strap I would recommend a Toscana from TC or a Vertigo from Bob. Don't get the regular Bob straps though, they are only a small step above the rep straps.

... and Elliot sometimes has a coupon in his trade area. You can't sneeze at 39% off a Toscana.

First hello from Cape Coral, TC straps are excellent and a good price with the RWI discount. Don also has a good selection, I would say most of the $50+ straps would reqiure little or no break in and should be relatively soft and softer as the price goes up. I do agree about the fiddy strap that comes with it, it is a big piece of crap. I am looking at several for mine right now and have narrowed it down to MF and Strap-works. Good luck :D

I just put a Toscana "distressed" suede strap (black on white stitching) and it is fanatastic. I bought it from a member here at a great price and the difference between the rep trap and Toscana is night and day! Toscana strap is not only softer, more pliable, better looking, but is also more fitted for the watch and my wrist.

Best money you will ever spend!
