i've got a 195 and a 113 from 2 different dealers . the thread part of the screws on the 195 are smaller dia than the screws on the 113. they won't interchange and on both watches they stripped the first time i changed the straps. the 195 did it first along with the buckle. when i tried the 113 i took them out and put some machine oil on them to help with friction and they still did it.

now with that said i am a automobile and a aircraft mechanic and i am used to used to takeing delicate things apart and putting them back together again.

1. why are these screws different sizes?

2. why are the threads so soft?

it seems to me the screws are bad steel or the cases on both of these watches have bad threads. but 2 watches from 2 different sources? seems unlikely to me the case threads are bad on both watches from the very beginning.

any ideas? is this common??

any ideas?????

i have some spring bars ordered from river but are they going to work on both watches since they have different size screws?

yes, i am defiantly going to use the spring bars if they will fit both watches. i may not be able to use them on one of them because the screws are bigger around so i hope the spring bars are a big enough dia to work on both of them. but even that won't fix the buckle from davidsen. it did the same thing when i changed it from on strap to the other and then back. basicly all of this stuff worked 2 times and it was done.

One of the screws on my 111 rep striped the first time I put it in. I replaced it with a screw that came with a strap I bought and it's solid as a rock.

One of the screws on my Davidson 195 striped so I tried to replace it with one of the screws from my 111 and you're right, they don't fit. The 195 screw is smaller.

I used some Locktight and it's been holding, but I too ordered some spring bars from River. If they don't fit the 195 I guess I'll drill the holes bigger.

River's springbars should fit. I just replaced the the ones on my Davidsen 195 with them as I was having problems with the screws as well.
