Hi there,
I have a DJ 41 with a broken 2836 clone. I've thrown out the movement and want to buy an ETA to replace it and rebuild my datejust.

My query is, the ETA 2836 movement's I find have the date (which i need) and a daywheel (which I don't need in a datejust). What is normal practice here? - Do I just remove the daywheel and forget it was ever there. When I set the watch, the daywheel function will still be there, is there anything I can do to remove it or just leave it be please?

MEGA thanks for any kind help at all.

DAMNIT, TITLE SHOULD SAY: REPLACE WITH 'ETA 2836', a 2836 clone for an ETA 2836.

Don’t worry about the day wheel, you can remove it and forget about it. The day wheel quick set position on the stem is the same as the date wheel, you just turn the crown ccw instead of cw, so nothing changes if the day wheel is gone.

Wow, thanks a lot for the mega kind reply. I really appreciate it! I'd not known that at all. :)

My last query is whether I'll have any problems with the hand height, if I buy an ETA 2836, but I think I'll just grab an ETA and cross my fingers to find out as I put the hands on.
Thanks again !

I believe most standard gen Eta 2836s come with H4 pinions, so you should be ok.
