stupid and ignorant question. When you regulate in one position are you compromising a bit on the others ? How does it work ?

I try to get all four as low as possible. I usually try to get as close to zero on the more “common” positions like dial up and crown down.

So technically I compromise on crown up and dial down.

Okay sorry for the absence folks! Was a super busy week at work.

Began disassembly on the PAM113. Funky stuff under the crown guard!

Still quite a bit of over oiling on the keyless works.

And look at this gremlin I found. Badly applied epoxy on the hairspring stud. Stud was loose, and this was most likely the culprit for that terrible amplitude.
Letting this bad boy soak in one dip. I will reapply epoxy and reset the hairspring.

Thanks guys!
All it takes is practice really!

I have a PAM111 with the 6497-2 on the bench now. So will be sharing that soon. I typically only get time on the weekends to do work due to my “real” job hah!
Spectacular. Thanks for your contribution.

Slight improvement today on the movement. Amplitude was bouncing between 289 and 293 which to me is an optimal spot.

Regulated it in four positions as best as possible. Crown up was the worst at around -5 sec/day. Shown below is dial up.

Just wow. Subscribed.

Thanks a bunch man!

The 6497 is a really good movement to work on.

Good afternoon getting this guy back together. Will be fixing the balance tomorrow with epoxy.

**Don’t worry I cleaned up that grease in the first pic!

Case finishing up after the balance tomorrow. Think this one will go back to a happy owner!

Okay! So that epoxy took longer to come in that anticipated.
I used a red Bergeon oiler and placed a couple drops of epoxy to secure the hairspring. 60 minutes later done!
I also just used one dip and let that dissolve the epoxy that was all over the hairspring.

And all cased up. Owner I think will be quite happy!

Hey All!

It's been awhile since I have posted....been busy with work, watches, and we moved to Kansas temporarily.
I wanted to start sharing some pics again of the work I am doing. I have some "bigger" things coming up....3235 Gen balance installation, and some serious upgrades to a 4130!

Finally got a new, larger desk! More space and I made it a bit higher so it is more comfortable for me to sit at and work on watches (33" Height). Just a simple countertop from IKEA (KARLBY) and I used the ALEX Drawer Units and some extenders for support. Clean bench is an efficient bench!!

Right now I have another 3185 (Or labeled 3186 on the winding bridge....) on the bench. I plan to take some more detailed photos pointing out spots that I place oil and such. First set pf pcictures was with the iPhone...nice camera was dead...

Disassembled and Cleaned!

Keyless works coated with Epilame. I coat the steam as well.

Keyless installed

Motion Works Installed

Enjoy! More to come in the coming days as I finish this one up!

Wow,
beautiful setup you got there.
Great photos of the work in progress.
Nice thread

Thanks!

Still some improvement to make! And still some tools on my list to get! I'm open to any criticism or education if someone more senior sees something out of place!

I have a VSF DJ41 Blue that runs decent, but could use a service. How do I arrange that and what does it cost? I am also in the Deep South USA (Atlanta).
