on my 195 if i use a 120x 75 bob vertigo, i buckel it on the 3rd or 4th hole and only use 1 of the strap loops for the excess strap. if i use the brown buffalo that came from davidsen, a 120x80 i buckel it on the 5th or 6th hole and use both of the strap loops.

i can use either one it seems but witch look is considered better, or is more popular? 1 strap loop for the excess or 2?

it's my first one so i am learning. , what does everybody think? how do you guys do it? :)

Because of my small wrist I am usually plugged in at the first hole. Don't mind the look unless the strap has flimsy loops, and I cant hold the excess properly.

depends

on wrist size and the look you are going for.

vintage watches usually only had one keeper by the buckle, not a second "floating" one. and the straps were quite long...as the watches had to fit over the frogman's rubber suit. if you want that look - and a lot of pam lovers do - they go for a longer strap and have the holes punched "higher" toward the watch case. and if a strap comes with a second keeper, they take it off. i'm beginning to take out the floating keeper myself, as i think it looks a lot better.

personally, if your wrist is small and you do the above, it really highlights that you may be wearing a watch that's too big for you (like wearing your father's slacks when you were a kid along with his belt that almost went twice around your waste!

on the other hand, using the last two holes on a strap and having hardly enough "point" on the long part of the strap sticking out from the fixed keeper looks equally, if not more, ridiculous as least imho.

my personal ideal is to look straight down at my watch when it's on my wrists and be able to see the end of the strap. even if it's dangling a bit...though it could ruin a man's french cuff habit!

hope this helps.

cheers.

my wrist is about 7 1/2 to 7 3/4 depending how tight you pull the tape measure. the longer buffalo strap has a nice looking amount of strap sticking through the second loop and doesn't look too big or out of place. the shorter bob strap has about the same amount sticking through the first loop and also looks good. i was just wondering if one look was considered to be more correct than the other.

actually the bob strap is more comfortable and the watch lays flatter and is more centered on my wrist than with the buffalo but i was thinking that maybe because it is softer. also the bob strap on the 3rd hole is better sized to my wrist it seems because it is not too tight or too loose. the buffalo strap seems to pull the watch to the outside of my wrist instead of laying in the middle and it is alittle loose on the 5th hole and binds alittle on the 6th hole. i thought it being stiff might be causing this?

i found 2 don straps i like alot but they are 24x22 and 75x115 or 85x115 and i am trying to figure out if the 85x115 will lay flat on my wrist. it is the same dstance as a 80x120 but it seems the buckel would be off to one side.

I have a 7.5" - 7.75" wrist and I wear a 115/75 strap.

You also have to keep in mind that most straps have to be trained to fit your wrist properly. No matter how you wear them most of these straps are made, stored and shipped flat. I would be willing to go out on a limb and say that nobody can wear a flat strap. They have to be curved around your wrist. This usually take a day or 2 to actually happen. Wear the strap for a few days and then see what is most comfortable.

Here are a couple shots of the Toscana strap I wearing right now on my 192 and how I wear it.

that is exactly what my bob 120x75 looks like on the 4th hole. i have been wearing it on the 3rd hole so it doesn't bind when my wrist swells (i have arthritus) and it still looks good. if i am using the 120x80 it looks like that on the 6th hole through the second loop and generally i wear it on the 5th hole.

so it looks to me that i can wear either depending what size is avaliable for the brand of strap and if i want to use the second loop.

i like both looks so i guess i can use either? is the second loop look in or out or is it just personal preferance?

yes i know what you mean. when i get a new strap i sit down with it and work it bending it for several minutes if it is a smooth surface i will work it with leather conditioner. on this vanilla colored 120x75 6 hole bob strap i am using holes 3 and 4. that seems to look and fit good, maybe more streamlined and less bulky. when i am using the 8 hole 120x80 mmx i am using holes 5 or 6. it still centers pretty good and the extra strap works perfectly with second loop. maybe it's the dark brown color but it has more of a down to business rough and ready look with the extra bulk utalizing the second loop.

Hmmm, I really prefer the lighter colored straps on PVD'd watches, myself.

However, I agree that your brown strap looks a little more worn in and "ready for work".
