I have noticed that ALOT of you guys on this site are BIG Paneri fans. Any particular reason? They do have some sharp looking watches, I am going to get one or two for my collection, just wondering why they seem to so popular. Also, any thoughts on IWC or Breguet reps?
thanks!

It's very hard to explain - once you see one in person you'll know what all the fuss is about :)

I'm a noob pannie-crazy fresh from the hot pot. I didn't figure I'd be able to part with $3K for an oversized watch, yet the design has intrigued me for years now...

Then when I had my first pannie rep (just about 5 days ago), I just couldn't believe it can be that captivating. When I used to be sub-crazy for even longer time, my sub rep thrill lasted only for a few days and my life went on as per normal. But with this 005, my life changed! I can't stop looking at the watch, and I can't stop pining for MORE! I'm already starting to eye for my next pannie.

I think it's the design. It's 44mm oversized face is simply minimalistic. While many other watchs tend to include so much details in the design while others have clean but too much markers, the simple base/marina dial is just enough to draw a second look by the form.

What's more? Unlike many other watches where the look is only complete with specific bracelet/straps and changing to something else are only regarded as taboo, pannies tend to be 'personalizable'. The same pannie can give a different vibe and personality just by the change of the bracelet/strap.

Pam fever grows on you like a nail fungus and like that fungus it's damn near impossible to fully cure it. They (mfgs) keep making the reps better and better and you just "have to have them" :). It's hard to explain to someone who had not been in the grip of this disease 8)

Famous last words!

It's safe money that if you like them already (without ever wearing a watch of that design), you'll end up with more than 2. I've got 4 Panny-style watches (2 Marine Divers from International Watchman, a vintage Radiomir rep from Joshua, and a PVD MM20 rep from Davidsen) and am planning for more. Probably a base dial 47mm Radiomir from Davidsen, a 177h from Joshua and then who knows.

I bet you end up with more than two.

I'm on my 3rd and if it weren't for the threat of divorce I would have many more :)

I think it also has to do largly with the quality of the reps avalible. At one point rolex reps were the best quality reps avalible. As a brand I think the HQ pannie reps outshine all of the others brands as a hole.

And the pam's have a decent resale on the used board. I personally only have two-three pams at any given time... I get bored of one and get a differant one. Currently got a 192/pvd 005 (which is really for my wife, i've never worn it)/and 217.
