Yea, I've lurked on "those" forums for a while...long before I ever discovered this or the RWG forum. I've been looking at Timezone too for something like 7 years I think, maybe more...long before they were sold.
Anyway, I look around on the "Panny" forums sometimes...but I often get bored quickly with the posts. I prefer it here
not to mention, I can afford these watches! LOL
I dont want to start a war...but I find on some of the Panny forums it feels like there are a lot of (but not the majority of course) self absorbed people with too much money that just like to show off what they have. Its great to be passionate about something, but I think some take it a bit too far. But I guess its like that in every hobby?
Recently, on one of the Panny boards, some guy was showing his strap collection. He had something like 4 Tupperwears filled with straps. Each Tupperwear I believe held about 25 straps, but could of been more. 100 straps?? The guy must of spent well over $10,000 on Panerai straps! He probably spent more like $20k
Timezone is a great place. My only complaint is that it got too big and too many sub-forums now. So you can spend half your day just navigating around. But then again, some of the added sub-forums are a nice thing to have (like the watchmaking & repair and the Vintage forum). There are a lot of very knowledgeable people on Timezone.
The Purists is also a good place to visit for great pics, stories, and info. Although thats another forum that can sometimes make u feel that if you don't own a $75,000 Breguet Tourbillon then please leave!
