Just picked up a DSN GMT and just want to ask a few questions about the GMT movement.

I always thought that the GMT hand is a second hour hand ie, if in France you set the GMT hand to the french hour and use that hand to tell the time whilst there, however my 088 starts 1 hour ahead but as you turn the dial it advances so that 12 hours later the gmt hand is behind , not ahead so please put me out my misery, what is it meant to do and how do you set it as I cannot get it to move on its own to set it. This might sound very nieve but need help from a newbie GMT user.

Dont get me started on the watch itself, thats a post on its own which will follow with pics :)

God I am a knob sometimes, think I have just figured it out by playing, the gmt doesnt tell dual time, the gmt hand just points to the 24 hour mark to indicate the 24 hour time ie. at 2 oclock am the gmt hand points to 2, at 2pm the gmt hand point to 14 on the watch scale.

Correct ? I always thought the gmt was for dual time zones :( Something new I,ve learnt..................................I think!!. Mind you it is late here in the uk and 5 bottles of Old Peculer doesnt help

GMT is dual time, thats what the second hand is for.
Search the forum and you found the answer.
In Youtube there are many videos about how to set the GMT time.
Good luck and welcome...
Btw please add some pics..

I had this "problem" when I first got my 029 last year. Confided in my fellow rep afficianado and he laughed.

As mentioned by Accharia, the GMT hand is an extra hour hand but unlike the main hour hand it travels 1 complete circle every 24 hours ie the 24 hour markers on your 88.

I use the GMT to indicate what time it is where my GF is. She's in Sydney 2 or 3(DST) hours ahead of my timezone. So in the morning, i set the time eg 8am, GMT hand set to 1100hrs. As the day progresses, the hour hand will move, the GMT hand will always indicate the 2nd timezone in military hours.

hope that helps.

Thanks for all your help, It appears that I might have yet another duff watch, yes the gmt does move around once every 24 hrs indicating the 24 hr time but I cannot adjust the gmt hand independantly, all the videos tell you to pull out the crown, turn it clockwise to change the date and anticlockwise to move GMT hand. This doest work on mine :(

A video and photos will follow shortly

Here's the pic of the watch and also a video showing the movement and changing the date but turning the crown anticlockwise to move the GMT hand doest do anything, is it broken or not a true gmt movement??

Sorry about the heavy breathing, have a stinking cold and stuffed up nose!!!! :(
