I bought a bird feeder. I hung it on my back patio and filled it with seed.
Within a week we had hundreds of birds taking advantage of the continuous
flow of free and easily accessible food.

But then the birds started building nests in the boards over the patio,
above the table, and next to the barbecue.

Then came the poo. It was everywhere: on the patio tiles, the chairs, the
table...everywhere!

Then some of the birds turned mean. They would dive bomb me and try to
peck me even though I had fed them out of my own pocket.

And others birds were boisterous and loud. They sat on the feeder and
squawked and screamed at all hours of the day and night and demanded that
I fill it when it got low on food.

After a while, I couldn't even sit on my own back porch anymore. So I took
down the bird feeder and in three days the birds were gone. I cleaned up
their mess and took down the many nests they had built all over the patio.

Soon, the back yard was like it used to be...quiet, serene and no one
demanding their rights to a free meal.

Now let's see..... our government gives out free food, subsidized housing,
free medical care, and free education to anyone born here or not.

Then the illegals came by the tens of thousands.
Suddenly our taxes went up to pay for free services; small apartments are
housing 5 families; you have to wait 6 hours to be seen by an emergency
room doctor; your child's class is behind other schools because over half
the class doesn't speak English.

Corn Flakes now come in a bilingual box; I have to "press one" to hear my
bank talk to me in English, and people waving flags other than the Stars
and Stripes are squawking and screaming in the streets, demanding more
rights and f ree liberties.

Just my opinion, but maybe it's time for the government to take down the
bird feeder. If you agree, pass it on; if not, continue cleaning up the
poop

Well, I see two issues there. One being the bird feeder, the other being the Mexicans. I think the bird feeder, as in certain government services which supposedly aid the public good, should be taken down or at least scaled back.

For example, I think the whole idea of "affordable housing" is rediculous. I live in Santa Barbara, CA where housing is anything but affordable. That said, affordability is a relative term and people do not have a "right" to live wherever they want. They have a right to live wherever they are able and willing to pay rent. If people can't afford to live here, they need to make more money or move so they can make room for the next guy in line who is able and willing to pay. But then there's education subsidization. Here is something I think is probably worth investing in as an educated population is generally good for the country as a whole. Educated to a point. I don't think the government should pay for law school for everyone that wants to go, but I do believe there is a healthy medium. Also, I think the recipients of most government subsidies should be contributing members of society. But then there's contributing members of society.

I've known many citizens who contribute a hell of a lot less than some of the guys coming into this country, illegally or legally. These mooch citizens use the roads, work the system, and are general drains. These are the guys that buy shit at Costco and then try to return it 4 years later. They believe they are owed something for simply being american. But nobody complains about them. The Mexicans though, there's some people worth complaining about, right? Those Spanish speaking, taco eating, coming into our country and taking all our jobs dirty Mexicans! Who do they think they are? But then, they're coming into our country escaping bad shit at home and coming in to work, to contribute something to society. Or maybe they're just coming to "work the system", use our roads, and generally be drains, but I don't see any hard facts on this. All I see are estimates of how many illegals are in the country (which is like estimating how much weight in drugs moves into and out of the United States every year, as in it's a number pulled out of someone's ass) and a bunch of other thinly veiled borderline racist bull shit. I don't doubt that many illegals are here to work the system and mooch. But how many? And what portion of the illegals are actually doing this as opposed to simply working?

So in answer to the question, yes, it's time the government take down the bird feeder so to speak, but if someone wants to come into this country and exchange their hard work for hard currency, I say more power to them. They are more American than many of the dumb shits I've met in my life who think the world owes them something. And our taxes didn't go up to pay for free services. Social services actually account for a fairly small portion of government spending: most is social security and the military. If small apartments are housing 5 families, let them. That doesn't harm me in any way, how does it harm your quality of life? Go into most emergency rooms across the united states and see how many people in there are really illegal immigrants. Uninsured perhaps, but I'd be willing to bet money that the number of illegal immigrants in emergency rooms, particularly not near the border, is pretty low compared to the number of uninsured American citizens. But I'll agree w/ you on the schools, I think school should probably be taught in English. I think one language is a good thing, if only for practical reasons. Just my 2 cents.
