Nearer than you think
Still waiting for an answer from the experts if indeed is possible to put the 3186 in a 3135 jf sub case, and if then it’s possible I was thinking about making someone add some material via laser and refining it into a 16710 case

Rather odd... 3186 is just an improvement over the 3185 but should have identical dimensions.
3185 is using most of the 3135 as a base, so a 3185/6 should fit a 3135 case. Hasn't it been done?

I've never seen it done in a rep 5 digit case, but the hybrid SH3185 coming from an SH3135 would fit either a 5 or 6 digit 3135 case. I have read about gen GMT movements being fit to rep 6 digit cases, but am not sure if it was gen 3175 or 3185/6.

The gen 3175 movement does not have an independent GMT hand. There is good discussion about that movement here if anyone is interested.

The measurements posted by ginopino pretty conclusively show why this new A3186 movement would not be compatible with any existing 5 or 6 digit 3135 or ETA cases, assuming the rep movement is close to gen height.

That's not to say someone won't figure out a way to make it happen, there are some mighty talented and creative hobbyists on here.

At this point, if those claimed 3186 are not 3175s with different naming to match today production, unfortunately there is the need to mod the interior of a sub case to fit. At least less than 1mm but is needed to be removed from the inside.

I'm wondering if a TC V7 case should work without the need of this, because to fit a 3135 you need longer screw because is deeper than a JF for example

That’s what I would have thought, but I asked Tickleshoes about exactly this setup (3135-based movement, so either sh3185 or gen 3186 in a 3135 case), and he explained: “Nope. They do not fit. The GmT movements are thicker to the point there is no way to secure it in the case and the rotor will hit the caseback and not turn.”

Would it fit a vietnam 1675 case? If so, making a 16750 might be possible...!

Cannon pinion hole does not look different to gen - think Vrf did a good job:

Not sure about that bro. Those hybrids were based on an SH3135 which is same stem height as 3186. The 2824 CHS uses a very thick dial spacer (1.5mm) and an elevated DW tooth ring to compensate for the stem height difference, in effect pushing the 2824 down in the case to the 2836 tube position.

Maybe the tube was removed, hole filled, new tube hole drilled and tapped. It may have also needed some inside case milling and a special movement holder. It WAS done, so it can be done again. I should have clarified that it would not be a simple 1:1 movement swap.

It could also be done with a Noob 3135 Sub case, just swap in the GMT crystal retaining ring with its 24 scallops and the GMT bezel assembly. Probably easier that way although the case engraving would be wrong if that matters to you.

Gen 3186 Movement fits without any problems into the Noob 116710 Case (latest) you just need a custom movement holder.

My superfranken (all gen beside case) got this.
