Sorry little left behind on this development..Does the AF have a fully clone moment as well??
The nomenclature is a bit strange, the TD are listing the movements as follow: an A3186 fro the VRF and a SH3186 for ARF. it seems that both movement are clones, just like the SH3135 and supports reverse date through fast jumping hour hand.
I think most people automatically assumed that the VRF has a 3186 clone that would be of the same great quality as the VR3135. We won't know how good the clone 3186 movement is until members actually get the VRF and do a teardown.
The other super clone movement (SA3186 from Noob) was a time bomb, so it had to be used very carefully, especially when changing the date.
These two new super clones movements (SH3186 from ARF and VR3186 from VRF) should be much more reliable and robust.
Prior to these releases, in order to get a reliable 1:1 movement, we had to spend more money, either buying a gen Rolex Caliber 3186 (approx. 2K USD/EUR) or adding some gen parts to an Asian 28xx clone movement.
Thanks for the explanation. I’m new into GMTs, so really understood from your explanation. However 1 thing I want to clear out. What’s the difference between the SH 3186 by ARF and VR 3186 by VRF. Why so much excitement over the VRF? Isn’t the SH3186 By ARF also a fully cloned 3186?
Holy Batm... Well, I'll stop it there. I'm just about to order a GMF Batman ICHS, but I'm seriously thinking of waiting a bit to see how this goes.
I guess the million dollar question is how is the hour hand setting done, so I'll probably wait until good old Rob dissects these two new movements and order accordingly.
VRF just released a batman too. I think that deserves a separate thread but strange enough don’t see one
In the exact same boat.

ARF insert is WAAAAAAY better than the VRF, i don't understand why one would go for the VRF over the ARF (if both movements work nicely and it's just a matter of finish, arf should be a no brainer)
