I decided to go all out on my next strap purchase and ordered a genuine Swiss Ammo strap with 2 visible stamps and the leather dyed black with gold tan stitching. (From here http://straps66.blogspot.com/)

It's now ready and about to ship :)

It will go on a PAM 187 that is currently being worked on by Domi (he's installing a Taka datewheel and Fine DD is doing a new AR on it. (I've also had that watch previously re-lumed by Ziggy and a new/flattened CG pin)
The tan stitching will match the tritium coloured lume nicely I think.

Domi and Fine DD are also working on my PAM 127, by installing an EL Fiddy dial I bought, a complete re-lume so hands and new dial match, and a AR by Uwe.

Must be patient!.....will post pics when I have everything.

Follow the link - that strapmaker is in Singapore. That would explain the Chinese tools, no? ;)

They look nice, but they seem to be mimicing the aesthetic of Ted Su's straps?

Yes indeed he's based in Singapore.
I love Ted Su straps too, so I know what you mean.
They do say imitation is the best form of flattery :)

Well, I couldn't swear that Ted was the first one to make straps that look like this, he was just the first I'd seen.

As they say "There's nothing new under the sun". This is absolutely the case with most strapmakers, as well.

Very nice strap there!

I've never seen an ammo strap in black, but I like it.

You might enjoy Ingomar's straps as well: http://www.maddog-straps.com/

I've seen PLENTY of his work and they really upgrade the entire watch IMO.

Marc

What a gorgeous strap--which got me over to Ted Su's page too--which I had never visited. The problem with this hobby is that it sucks you into the vortex. Now I too want a Swiss ammo strap for my 112..... Damn!
