Rundown of the story:

Tight-arse complains about arse-hole neighbour flouting the law which everyone else has followed so far.
Arse-hole neighbour then spends $$$ in repairing mistake he shouldn't have done in the first place.
Arse-hole neighbour then decides to teach tight-arse a lesson in minding his own biness, and not complaining.
Tight-arse now has a view of a giant Bird staring at him without possibility of redress.

Lovely. And then people wonder why there are so many wars in this world.

Man That is funny. He certainly had it coming though.

No he did not!

The laws are for all. Homebuilder should not have to pay one nickel for correction. The ordinances should have been researched by the Architect (which I happen to be, and am registered in Florida as such) and the contractor to verify they fall within the accepted limits of the law. Upon architectural review of the plans submitted, the city should have requested an elevation or series of elevations indicating heights above grade.

The new neighbor is the schmuck here. The guy who got his view cut was completely correct.

And for what it is worth, a few inches above the limit could maybe be varianced in, however 1 and one half feet above the limit is outrageous. In watches parts are made to withing hundredths of a centimeter, but this guy's contractor and Architect put something together 18" out of limit. Screw them, they eat the problem.

This is clearly malpractice on the Architect and Contractor.
