Need help. PAM 005 or 111H

I really don’t know much about Pam’s but I’m attracted to them. I really like the 111 but the prices range depending on the modifications done. I saw a PAM 005 and the price is really cheap ($90.) but haven’t purchased it because of a post I’ve read about the quality of the 005 and Titanium’s from the factories.

What would be a better choice with a new strap?
The Pam 005. Asian 6497 with sapphire glass and the logo look’s ok with the E pointing to the right. Closed case back.

Or, spend a little more and go with the Pam 111H swiss unitas 6497-2 with swan neck.

Thanks for the help.

Get the 005. Its cheap and looks pretty good to be honest. The crown is pretty nice and thick, not wholly accurate, but close. The CG is incorrect for the 005 but so are all the reps, you can change this later and it looks decent.

The dial is the most important, and its light years ahead in terms of accuracy over the 111. Plus you won't have anyone calling you out on having the incorrect movement via a display caseback. I'm going to contact Hont to see if he can source a similar 000 :)

The question is where to get the 111h if you wanted one. I contacted DSN and he only had 112s. :(

just found out and wanted to make one minor correction. The Pam 005 from Hont @ $90 has mineral glass.

Not a huge issue as he can get that swapped out. Hell I'm selling a sapphire glass shortly with strong AR so they can be had easily in the parts market.

hooligan; contacted Hont, he said there are no good 000s available, seems only this 005, and I don't need another subdialed version PAM in my stable unfortunately.

Update. Hont has responded. The PAM 005 for $90 has mineral glass and the sapphire is $160. Does it really cost this much for just the sapphire glass or are the details just better?

Latest update. Hont has been responsive but the price is higher than Trevors. Honts response back about the $70 more for sapphire was due to factory prices. I contacted Le Hu from Trevors and his price is $148. Response from Trevors has been great. In fact i'm also getting the Nardi Blue Surf at a good price. Buy more better savings and a free pen. Now to find a heroic 18 strap.
Thanks for all of your help.

I would say that the mineral is like a hard plastic and sapphire is more glass like. There is a difference in the touch. The mineral will also scratch easy.

To update the original post I have gone with the Pam 005 from Trevor. Communication has been great and just received the tracking number. I will post a picture soon.

Now I need a strap and buckle. Looking for a dark brown strap 24mm and polish buckle. Maybe a Heroic18 or A2.

When you say "no good 000's available" you mean for a "decent value" or you include the DSN 000 : http://forum.replica-watch.info/vb/showthread.php/new-pam-000-with-new-27647

I mean for 300 bucks you think it's a good 000 honestly ?

The 005 dial is good but I think incorrect for the H series. If I'm not mistaken it's suppose to read "L Swiss Made L" under the 6. The "L Swiss L" only appeared on the G series (meaning the caseback is going to be incorrect).

Definitely get the version with sapphire. I suspect the mineral crystal will make the watch look cheap.

For the CG (the pictures are not great but it appears polished) you could get it refinished until you find a good replacement. Just get a 1000 or 2000 grit wetdry sandpaper for auto finishing. Remove the CG and drag the CG on straight lines on the paper. You may want to remove and polish the pin first if you are up to it. At the end the pin should be flush with the CG.

The 111 is bad, very bad. Stay away from it.
