Initially I was seeking a rep submariner, then realized that everyone and their brother would ask me if it was fake. (20 year old college student) My intention was never to pull a fast one and say it was genuine, but it seemed like a nuisance. I then looked at Tag's for a while, I noticed Panerai and said to myself, who would wear such a large watch? They looked really bulky compared to the subs and aquaracers I was looking at. Eventually I found myself infatuated with the design, and they are certainly more rare than a Rolex or Tag. I believe it was a thread on some of the vintage Panerai that sold me. I decided to test the waters with a lower cost rep, was initially going to buy a 111h for about 300$ but decided it would be smarter to buy something a bit cheaper to see if I liked the style and size on my wrist.
Anyways here's a few pictures, this is my first hand-wind, it died on me at about 9:30am after I had winded it about 30 times when I first got it I'm hoping I just didn't wind it enough. Cannon pin is slightly recessed, CG lever wiggles when open but not much. My pictures don't really do it justice. There is no swan neck. I'm not sure how to feel about the AR really, never had a watch with it before. It doesn't look nearly as blue as it does in the pictures I took. The strap also leaves a bit to be desired, I have smaller wrists so it wears a bit loose on the tightest setting, already looking at getting a new strap for it. My knowledge of watches is not great, I'm sure there are numerous other flaws, I'm not even entirely sure what model it's replicated after. My friends liked it, they had no idea what a Panerai is, of course I told them it was a fake and about my brief moment of terror from the postal service. Perhaps I can get them interested in the hobby.
tl;dr I like my first rep, still deciding if the size is right for my girly wrists. Enjoy the pictures. Thanks RWI, lots of useful information here.
