Looking to build a 1016. Any advice?

My 1016 just arrived. Overall, I 'm happy with it but a little disappointed in the dial. The builder suggested a frog for dial. It looks good in the QC pics but in hand the lume seems very flat with no depth or "puffiness" to it. Almost looks painted on. Other than that I'm pleased. I've heard mixed things about Raffles dials. Can anyone recommend a better dial that will fit onto the 2824?

All parts were sourced by Bivintage who also did the work. As far as I’m aware all VN components except ETA which was Swiss.

oh I have seen his offerings on fb didnt know he sold complete builds

Yes, the dial looks great but the lume appears very flat with no texture as opposed to all the rep frog foot dials I've seen.

Not sure on it being totally period correct, but a good starting point is maybe Ruby’s… believe MoChaCha will also be able to source a one too… he used to sell a range of parts on his eBay

I've looked at them both. Ruby's site seems to be down but they had several options. MoChaCha seems to be expensive. I can't believe they are gen refinished dials but maybe I'm wrong.

Myth number 1- these are not gen refinished dials! That may be a CYA move- cover your donkey, but these are new rep dials all day long. Welcome aboard!

That's what I assumed. That being said, do you have a preference for Raffles, MoChaCha or Rubys?

I was able to source a gen 1570 movement and am going to upgrade my new 1016 build. What dial would you recommend that would fit the 1570 well? Looks like I’m slowly building a gen 1016

Same question - looking for a solid 1016 dial for 1570 but can't access the Ruby site. Site seems flakey, unable to send info request etc... Anybody know the "pw" to browse?

may i use a swiss eta 2846 21600 which has the time setting direction (counterclockwise) same as 1570 with all the 1016 stuff from Raffle and Helenarou (case, dials,hands) ?
