That's helpful 5, thanks. I'll probably look at a newer version with the 1861 because I like the white dial markers better. I've read about the differences in the movements and what makes them different. The 321 is interesting and attractive but I don't think I want that old of a vintage one.

Again, thanks for the help!

Some of the other guys may have a different opinion, but personally I don't think there is a nickel's worth of difference. I would be fine with either. The early 861s were rose gold, the last few years of 861s were yellow gold, and the 1861s are rhodium (sp?) plated which is silver. I like the appearance of the yellow gold version the best but functionally they are all pretty much the same. I think the 861s gained a jewel somewhere in the 1990s. BTW, the 321 is also a solid movement.

The main decision will be do you want a minty white dial (luminova) or yellowed markers (tritium). The conversion away from tritium happened at roughly the same time as the change from 861 to 1861 so they are pretty much tied together. BTW, it doesn't matter which one you get because you will want the other soon after!

OMG, is this ever true! I think Ofrei sells the 1861 alone for over $1800. Wow.

Absolutely correct in all points!

I had a chance to get an 861 fully working for 700$ but i hesitated someone else took the chance...:frusty:

I have the quartz one from Watch Eden on a nice ralley strap, I really like it even though the chrono functions and buttons broke shortly after I started wearing it.

Is there a newer / better rep? I stopped following reps.

Hello guys,

I just received today my Speedmaster, bought from a fellow member few days ago. It has been modded with gen insert and hesalite plexi, and sub-dial @6 is glued. First pictures I took this evening just when coming back home :

And I also love it with leather strap (I had this one in stock, genuine alligator, cognac colour) :

Thanks for the comment.

The watch went on the moon. And the corks come from botles that brought me in heaven... ;)

Very nice Bardamu, the domed hesalite seriously makes a huge difference, more so than any subdials spacing on the reps etc., great strap also, looks great wear it well.

Thanks for the comment. I fully agree for the subdials spacing : it doesn't really matter. And when you put a very nice strap, not cheap at all, the feeling of a nice and gen watch, not cheap at all, is improved.

I also tried some other straps, just for fun :

I really admire how you guys take so much effort & pride in your works. They simply look amazing!

Im interested in speedmaster. However, i know im not up to it. I do not have the tools nor skills nor knowledge to mod it.

Where can I get a rep that is closest to the gen?

The reason you see a lot of awesome modded Speedies in this thread: there is no good reps out there. A 7750 or rep Lemania movement can't handle the seconds subdial at 3 o'clock; and the majority of reps just don't have the sunken subdials as per gen. Both are essential factors in the Speedmaster design.

Any noticeable flaws?

It's a lemania version of the rep speedmaster, relumed, frozen seconds @ 6, installed GEN omega hesalite and engraved omega movement bridge. It's a lovely watch.
And yes, it has many flaws. Most obvious being: subdial spacing should be less, subdials should be more recessed, I believe the case dimensions are slightly different, glass case back (some gen speedmasters have this but not this model)

But I guess this is the best it gets with this movement available.

As said in the post where I presented my Speed, it looks good because it has been moded (gen hesalite plexi + gen insert + stuck hand @6).

I don't know how to make such changes by myself, and to be honest I'm bored managing this with a moder. I didn't plan to buy this watch, and I was about to buy a Rolex Submariner rep. But I found this one for sale on RWI and I thought "wow, this one is great !". I immediately sent a PM to the seller. And now, it's mine.

So, you have two solutions. Buy a bad replica and manage some improvements, or look the sales from forum members and hope you'll be lucky.

Good luck !

Hey markh thanks for the offer. seller also had a gen bracelet that I passed on. Never been a bracelet guy. I have a nasa strap on its way and may try a leather one as well.
