Ahh. Ok. But the plexi crystal doesn't use a tension ring does it? The "sapphire" one I took out did but it was white. I didn't use a tension ring when I installed the domed plexi.

It does. On the earliest models (CK2915/2998), it was a polished steel ring, but later Speedies switched to black ones.

So if I go with the 32.2 acrylic then I don't need the pressure ring? Just glue it in? To get the look of a black ring could I paint the edges of the crystal black before installing?

If that's the right size then yes. I glued mine in. I wouldn't paint the crystal. I'd paint the inner lip of the bezel.

These are the pined threads on the top of the section, which stay there all the time as not to get lost in the chaos

Thanks.

I sometimes amaze myself,
when I think about how easy I find it to learn all of the many diferent CNC machines where I work,
yet, cannot figure out how forums work

So question....maybe stupid. Can you take the 2j1 version and freeze the second hand at 12 then just keep the chrono running to simulate the seconds at 9 or would freezing the second hand cause the watch to stop ? Does the watch still keep time when the chrono is running?

Hello,
one question:
will fit a tissot movement and gen dial in a 21j case?

No idea. Not all 21j cases are the same. Depends on when it was made etc...

I have a bezel insert question. What material are the inserts made out of? Aluminum? Do they stick on or what? I'd like to try to do a swap with one of my rep ones but am unsure of how it's attached...

What are the replacement inserts made of that wholesaleoutlet990 sells on ebay?

Also, I have another 21j version very generously given to me by another member. He thinks it's from 2007. I tried to pop out the crystal (sapphire probably) but it wouldn't budge. The others all popped out just with thumb pressure. Any ideas on how to get it out?

I'm not sure about the bezel insert, but the crystal question I can help with. If you don't have a crystal press, find something not too hard (like wood or plastic) that is the same diameter or slightly smaller than the crystal. We'll call this your "die". Place the die on the inside of the crystal and tap it out with a small hammer. I've had to do this with every 47mm Jackson case I've owned and I haven't damaged one yet.

I do have a crystal press. I have a cheapie from harbor freight so I may try that. Here are some pics of it. The crystal was really hazy when it arrived so I took it apart and cleaned it up. Had some kind of greasy haze on the inside. Looks nice now. Will be better when I swap the crystal out for a plexi domed one...

First off: Well done, markh! You've made a lot of progress over these pages!

Now, an update for those of you who haven't been watching the wristcheck threads. My project watch is back, and I would say it's 95% finished. Here are some pictures:

I bet!

But less than the $1500 - $2500 of a gen I imagine

:D

If I ever get around to building mine I hope it looks as good as yours! I will only be wanting one which pre-dates the "first on the moon" back. I feel confident that Buzz's watch didn't have that on the back ;)
