Keyless issue?

Hi Guys!

I need some technical advice. A couple of days ago I noticed an issue with my H fac 000. First crown/stem seemed to "jump" sometimes when winding. Than I wasn't able to set time. I could turn the crown in setting position but sliding pinion wouldn't engage with setting wheel.
I did some reading and decided to give it a try and reset keyless by myself.
Now, after dis- and reassembling keyless work three times and spending two hours searching through the whole carpet looking for that goddamn yoke spring...
I'm pretty sure everything is put together correctly. Time setting works perfect, but I can't wind it. Sliding pinion moves towards winding pinion like it should when I put crown into winding position, but it doesn't engage fully. It doesn't "grab" it... I can't see any damage on pinions teeth.

Is there anything obvious I am missing?
Any advice highly appreciated.

I'm not real big on the hand wind movements without going back and looking up the parts diagram but on the 24xx series it's a lever that acts like a spring that pushes the sliding pinion and holds the pressure. It's a common error to not re-set that lever in place when re-assembling the keyless and it will do exactly what you are experiencing. Could this be the problem.

Here's a picture of the lever I'm speaking of:

Thanks KBH. I don't know what lever is that, but I don't think there is something like this in 6497. I'm sure that pinions, yoke, yoke spring, setting lever and keyless cover are assembled correctly. If there is no other parts that can affect the way pinions engage, then I guess there is no other way than to start replacing those parts...

At 6:10 you can see the watchmaker set the spring lever.

Are you sure you set the sliding pinion with the teeth in the correct direction? First time I reset the keyless I placed it the wrong way.

Scrap what I wrote my answer was to picture kbh posted. You should go through interactive guide below for 6497

http://www.eta.ch/swisslab/6497/6947.html

Safe way to remove yoke spring is press down curved area with wood dowel/stick or flat blade screwdriver then use tweezer lift open end. Install you again hold down in position and use tweezer set tension.
Spring will fly if you don't hold down

Thank you guys for your replies.
KBH - that lever (part of keyless cover) is set correctly.
kilowattore - tripplechecked :)
Garuda - thanks for the link. It just confirms that I did everything like I should.

Guess something is broke/worn...

Just an update for those who might search solution for similar problem in future.
The stem was worn. After changing it everything works perfectly.
