This might be too regional to make sense to all...but...

One of the local television stations in South Louisiana actually aired an interview with a black woman from New Orleans. The interviewer was a woman from a Boston affiliate. She asked the black woman how such total and complete devastation of the churches in the area had affected their lives.

Without hesitation, the woman replied," I don't know about all those
other people, but we haven't gone to churches in years. We gets our
chicken from Popeye's".

The look on the interviewer's face was priceless

Obvious-Her priority was in eating rather than worshipping.

now you can see what I am living with. Not that all of us are like that, but that is not so unusual around here either.

On second thought she probably was worshipping the leg in one hand and a breast in the other.Thinking about how finger lickin' good it was going to be while adding 75 grams of pure fat to her body which was probably to large anyway..

Chill dude. I was in the area not too long ago doing some work and saw this slogan on several bumber stickers on cars. At first I thought it was about the past, hopfully its about now and the future for those folkes.

That is too funny. I'm from Louisianna (about 2 hours west of N.O.) and I can almost picture the look on the interviewers face. LOL BTW Popeyes is much better than Church's, both are owned by the same company, so they win either way. Do they even have Popeyes in Boston?

Yeah Popeye's is better but wish they would make biscuits like Church's. That would be the best of both!!!!!

Not trying to get political, but please tell me you don't believe it was a war over slavery.

I was born in Shreveport, LA, but ALL of my mother and father's families are from South Louisiana (Napoleonville and Houma), and having visited, I can honestly say that your account of the interview is likely not made up, and I am not at all surprised. That is why I now live in Austin, TX. Better I suppose, but here, you have to deal with hippies instead of cajuns.

Strike that...we in Austin have been the lucky recipients of several thousand Katrina evacuees, so now we have cajuns and hippies. So collectively, would they be Cajies or Hippjuns?
