If you've never lumed before i would lume some sandwich dials and not hop into sausage dials as I still find them hard.

I would practice like mad before doing a non-sandwich dial, unless you are a naturally gifted artist (unlike me). You can definitely do it with patience, but the wrong binder/pigment consistency could give you fits or cause you to mess up the dial face, so the tutorials that preach practice are on to something...

just to answer your question, you lume over the numbers, you do not take the numbers away.
Now to the next point, by asking this question I can see you are a lume noob, so good luck, you better order a second dial for your watch right now if you want to wear it in the future.

Most of the experts say so , you should listen to them .
Never ever do your first relume job on your watch , the result must be terrible .
About your question , it's not necessary to remove the old lume on the mark .
It's difficult to remove even you want to .
Just cover it .

Sandwich dials are cheap too. You can get some from Getat or Jackson.
Maybe 10 bucks each. They are good to practice on and also great for experimenting.
Some of the U-BOATS also have sandwich dials.
I think T4D has a special right now on some budget rollies you can practice on as well.

Here ya go. 5 bucks a dial.
