A great post Arcadia. I saw this thread a while ago but have deliberately been avoiding reading it since I knew that once I read it, I will hate my 'grail' sub and will therefore be compelled to spend more £££££££ trying to fix it.

BTW, what about the date font? ..... Is TC's V3 DWO font, print, gloss etc accurate for y series to v series?

    Awesome info thank you!

TC has the best (16610) sub, and with mods it can be a true replica of a specific series!

Any thoughts on taking the rehaut down a bit by dissassembling the case and lapping the top of the rehaut? If posible, how much does it need to come down? And side-by-side shots of the different series next to the TC? I would think .2-.5mm off the top would be possible before mechanical issues arise (crystal fitment) but since I don't own the TC (yet) I was wondering your thoughts...

    Thanks again!

I was shopping around for an Oyster Bracelet and i saw that some listings on chrono24 listed the 93150 as period correct for the 16610. Can anyone comment on the suitability of getting the 93150 over the 93250? Would this still be period correct?

If one were looking to put a nato strap on their out of the box TC would there be someone on the forum that will do the serial number engraving between the lugs?

So I'm now in a resto waiting for the wife and decided to re-visit Rwi. Logged in and went straight to the Rolex section and saw this as a sticky. Thanks Boss!

It's been a long time and I miss this. Been away for long spending on some german cars. I have to be back here soon! :)

First very very informative post, thanks for the good reading..

So question... If you are repping a D series, both the crystal and cyclops both should not have AR?
And just curious, would using a crystal with AR be any different than if you had a gen D series and took it to Rolex to replace the crystal? Or would Rolex give you a non AR crystal?

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the correct number of second markers under "Swiss Made". I believe his KH LN dial would be D series only?

Phenomenal post. This is exactly why I want to pursue a franken TC. I have this weird tick about chasing as close to perfection on the a sub as I can, and this post just showed me how to do it.

    Hi,

I need some expert opinion on my TC LV bezel teeth. My eye is so untrained sometimes I see it to be shallow sometimes it is not.

    On to the pics:

Hi. It looks that you have the deeper scallop version.

If this is V7 you probably have PAv2.

I hear that PAv1 has variations as well in scallop depth.

    GREAT POST!!! Thank you!

Following your precious information I think that the "inspiration" model for TC is a D series. The new V7 with the upgraded PA Bezel v2 with more deeper teeth, seems to need only a GEN Crystal with LEC to be installed for being completely period correct with a 2005 "D" Series.

    Or am I wrong?

In keeping with the D series and considering the latest V7x version of TC.. I originally received the LV, I am swapping the insert for a gen LN and also found a 25-295-c2. This keeps me well inside the D series and still acceptable given the missing engraving on bracelet?

I'm going for Y series on mine, I'm getting the lugs drilled and a gen non-LEC crystal on the way, and gen crown and insert. The bracelet engraving issue is a bit annoying but it could easily be a replacement one.

Watchsteve it's incorrect if you have a maxi dial and LN insert anyway so I wouldn't stress it but otherwise yup that's a D series right there

Yeah, that's the only bummer.. maxi dial looks nice though. I got the LV by mistake so was aiming for D series, but can't be. Hey ho, that gen insert makes a world of difference

Exactly the post I was looking for...great work Arcadia!

So if you order a TC v7 Extreme sub with a sanded / smooth rehaut, then it'd essentially be a Series Y with an updated Series D bracelet? Theoretically, can you even put a gen Series D bracelet on a Series Y gen case?

Any other features I'm not aware of if I want to get it closer to gen likeness and feel across two adjacent periods (e.g., 2002 - 2004 Series Y + 2005 Series D) rather than just optimizing towards one period?

Hi guys. I will try to answer each question as I can as, unfortunately, I rarely visit. Been busy with ///M addiction lately hahaha.

@Letmeinplease, An M series clean rehaut is possible in some LV but rarely in LN. But they do come up as presumably stock of the clean rehaut still existed before turning over to the engraved models. Remember Rolex doesn't issue official changes to protect their copyright. If you want a an engraved rehaut, please be sure that the font and size is CORRECT. If not, that maybe a worse tell than the clean rehaut. The first M series TC released actually had engravings but was a quick tell. You may fall into the same situation. If you are not sure that the engravings you will do will be correct, better stay with a clean rehaut.

What if I have a PJ bracelet? Would that be an instant inconsistency? No. That can be reasoned as an upgrade. My actualy brother in law has a gen 16613 (among other gens) where his bracelet got damaged. He replaced it with a new one from RSC with latest engravings and it is totally accepted as norm. I hope this quick reply helps.

@arcadia, you sir are a legend thanks, not looking to go engraved rehaut as I'm generally not a fan because as you say its not accurate. I was hoping to get a "as from factory" however remote the combination is. Or like you say do I go D or Z serial and its an upgrade. But the it is an excuse to go for a maxi dial with an ln insert ! Thanks for your input, much appriciated.
