So I have sourced an 002 FGD dial and am planning on using some spare hands 201a hands from DSN. I think his white hands will work the best.

Now I need to find a case, cg, crown and the engine.

For the money, I was thinking of ordering a getat watch w/sapphire. Thats 131 shipped for a complete watch including the h3 CP. From there I would replace the dial and hands, throw on a custom caseback that Jakob is making and it will be a great 002 IMO.

However, would you all suggest something else for the case? Just for the money I think Getat will be a great choice. Even the lug position looks pretty spot on for the project.

Any ideas an advice would be great. BTW this is for the 002 with the "T-SWISS-T" and NOT the "T SWISS T"

Thanks!

Looks like a standard rep case to me, COLDI. I think most of the Pre-A watches (which is what your dial would be for) had what we think of as the current case and A series CG with the straight top edge. As such, the current rep cases are correct in having the strap cut-outs in the bottom side of the case between the lugs, but the lugs themselves are a bit short.

A Jimmy Fu case and CG would be perfect, but those things are rare as hen's teeth anymore.

So, sure, that case will work and is about the best option without waiting months/years for a Fu cased watch to surface on the FS fora.

Here is an excellent article for you that details TONS of stuff about Pre-V and Pre-A dials, cases, numbering, movements, fonts, etc.

Anyone have a side profile shot of an A series CG?

LOL Ped, all your little GIFs/images are killing me.

Try this out, COLDI -

That's an A series 001 (photo from the Paneristi reference section). Actually after looking at the lugs again, the Getat case is pretty good. Lug screw placement on the rep case is a bit off, but that's normal for rep cases.

So would the new ToroBravo CG be correct or close to correct for the A series CG?

No, not at all. It would be correct for a Pre-V or an H series or newer watch. E-G would also work, but would need to be polished (the lever still left brushed). You'd need to grind the top side of the Toro CG down to be flat like the picture I posted, then re-brush in order for it to be correct.

Does that make sense?

Well Crap! I mean I could polish it...but crap. Finding a nice cg for this project is going to suck! So even if it was polished it would be wrong right?

yes, correct, even if polished it would still be wrong. It would need to be flattened on the front/dial side surface.

hmmm, time to bust out the dremel and sand paper I guess. Bc a DSN would totally be wrong I assume to. Am I right to say that anything but a Fu would be incorrect?

Well, the DSN would be correct, but not very good. Does that make sense? It would have a flat front/dial side of the CG and be polished with a brushed lever, it just wouldn't be a very good CG.

Here is a pic of the gen A series CG that I had installed on my 027A rep from DSN:

See how the dial/top side of the E series CG has a pronounced curve creating a wide spot at the middle of the CG? That curve would have to be sanded flat in order for it to be correct for an A-D series watch.

I hope that helps...
