Hello there fellow watch geeks!
I'm currently in the market for a accurate Cartier Ballon Bleu rep (42mm men's version) however I am having trouble picking out the 'best' watch for me, so some input from you guys would be greatly appreciated!
It seems that there are several different examples of this watch available and I have somewhat narrowed my search down to 4 which are all linked below:
1) Ballon Bleu SS on Bracelet ETA2892 Ultimate Edition - $628
2) Ballon Bleu SS on Bracelet ETA2892 Ultimate Edition V2 - $528
3) Ballon Bleu SS on Bracelet ETA2892 - $498
4) CARTIER BALLON DE CARTIER SS 42MM SWISS ETA 2824 - $308
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Firstly the most expensive option from PureTime - $628
To my untrained eye this looks like a very good and accurate replica. Correct date font and the movement is nicely engraved.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2) Second option, which seems identical to the first one to me, can anyone see the differences? It is exactly $100 less at $528, surely this must be for a reason?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3) Next is the $498 rep also from PureTime. Am I right in thinking that the watch is almost exactly the same apart from the detailed movement?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4) Lastly is the cheapest version on my list from Lay at ReplicaMake (who is no longer a TD here). At $308 it is less than half the price of option 1 and the only differences I can see is the wrong date font and plain movement. Am I missing something? Surely it is not worth the extra $300+ just for these minor details?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Usually I go on the basis that 'you get what you pay for' although I'm not sure that it can be applied in this situation as to me the watches seem very similar.
Anyone out there who could assist me in this? Maybe you own the same watch and could share details and information about it? Not only would this be useful for me in my decision making, but it will no doubt help others who are (or will be) in the same situation.
Thanks all!
