(yes, I posted this in the Flame Free group, but I'm hoping the studs here can help me out.)

If you've seen "Community" on NBC (in the US) I think Jeff might wear a 251. The big lumps next to the crown guard suggest it's a chrono (like the 251). "Troy" wears the watch on his right wrist, and I think he has a sinistra with the crown on the wrong side. I think his might be a 051 white face w/ SS bracelet. This is going to drive me nuts! Anyone else notice this?

Antonio Banderas on Craig Ferguson

I was watching the episode from yesterday of Craig Ferguson's show and I'm 90% sure that Antonio Banderas was also wearing a Panerai.

Hard to tell but it sure looked like it to me.

Anybody else notice that?

Ah, I see. Left handed Panerai models are referred to as "Destro" models.

I think Community is funny, I'll have to keep an out for that.

I'm better at Spanish, so I kinda recalled the term "Destro" but in Spanish Derecha is "right", so I put "sinistra". My Italian was off, but my Latin roots were on target. In my defense, I didn't spend another 15 min googling to check my facts, but I did make a quick check of my PAM catalog before starting the thread, but I didn't see any left handed stems.

Banderas definately has one. I saw it in a photo in People magazine recently. The CG was clearly visible under his jacket.

Well in fact sinistro could be translated to spanish as siniestro to and destro to diestro.

It's common to use left and right in Italian--you can see the Sinistro / Destro markings the tyre warmers for the Ferrari F1 team. Sinistro does indeed mean "left" and originates from the Latin. Interestingly, as left-handedness historically took on negative connotations, the word "sinistra/sinistro" came to be a synonym for bad or unlucky things--and is the basis for the English word "sinister".

When PAN says "Destro" they must be referring to the fact that the watch is worn on the right hand, not that the wearer is right-handed. (So the idea that a normal PAN is in fact a "Sinistro" is not completely incorrect.)
