I picked up this lower end rep from Timeshops and overall have been pretty happy with it, with one exception. The CG was horrid, in particular the pin. So last night I took it apart, removed the pin and replaced it. Then I sanded and buffed it out. Over all I am really pleased with how it came out. And it only took about an hour to do. (unfortunately I did not take any before pics...)

Looks great!

Just to be clear: Did you have a second pin available at the time you decided to sand/flatten it?

I want to try this but it seems as though replacements aren't easy to come by, should I mangle it.

Thanks!

I made a new pin from piano wire. The original seemed too small and the lever was very loose on it. I rummaged around in my tool box until I found a piece of wire the right size. It was a pretty snug fit in the CG but to be safe I roughed it up a bit and applied a little locktite to the bottom (there is no locktight on the side you can see in the pics). I left the wire about an inch long on the bottom of the CG and let the locktite set up. Then I trimmed it off, filed it flush and then sanded and polished it smooth.
