The Alpha code for series relates to the year.

like all manufacturers it is just an identifier....like Rolex "D" series, "Y" series, ect....

The early 111 reps are F series with polished CG and sausage dial. But the movements at that time were with the square bridge plates and recessed centre pinion.

I have one of those. Thinking upgrading the movement to the new G series Swiss 6497 with Swan neck regulator, XL centre pinion and Davidsen 2mm crown. Need to accumulate some funds before I can do that.
