I have not heard of that particular ETA caliber. I have seen a 2890 caliber which is 28,000 vph, but 2888 is not listed in my book.
I'll keep searching though. :)

Although I can't find the movment at Ofrei or julesborel, I do think it is ETA (swiss). The rotor w/ 5 bearings, the fit and finish, the hair spring/balance, all look ETA to me.

Lazarus TIME!!!!! here is what Ziggy said

It's not a 2888, that is the Date of Manufacture...

The model number is never in that location, the model number was in the area to the left of the ETA mark, and it's missing as you can see where it was ground off...

Looks like a 2846 to me, but it's a ETA not CN.

From what Rick914 and I have researched this movement seems to have been tricked up an used as a 2888 in Tugaris watches....in the Sandoz, Enicar, Favre kinda stuff (my movement was in a Sandoz date head btw)....found several pics like the one posted and MY 2846 21,600 that has the same markings and 2846 stamp removed....so if you run across one its a 2846....
cls just serviced mine and replaced the Main Spring as well as full service with a 2836's GMT components added to the 2846 to make IT a GMT thats in my 1675...

Most Octos from years ago used the ETA 2846. If you search on the bay for this movement you will find a few Octo watches from time to time.

Great necropost!

Octo is Swiss and used mostly 2873 and 2847 ETA movements.

Here's one posted a while ago by Kinkcaid, a mod over on RWG. It's a popular Octo Missilemaster model which are easy to find on eBay.
