Hi guys,

as I'm really new to the whole "open your watches" thing, I didn't really know what to think of what I saw when I opened my DSN's pam 026.

I would really appreciate if one or more panerai aficionado(s) could tell me what they think about it (overall look, engraving, cleanliness, ....) and why.

Thanks a lot!

Which 026 rep is this? If it's of the original 026, it's a closed case back - so who cares what the movement version is (your movement is 100% Swiss, though, it just has the stick-on plates with the engraving)? That movement style could be correct for an A series or early B series watch, though. If it is the new, re-issue 026 with the sandwich dial, the movement is incorrect, but again it is a closed case back so who cares?

The bottom line here is that you have a 100% Swiss 6497 there and if you pop open the case back, NO rep movement will be good enough to fool someone who knows what they're looking at.

Thanks for your answers.

As you said, it's a closed case back, so it's not really about fooling anyone.
I'm just trying to increase my knowledges, starting with what I wear on my wrist.

I'm still quite new to all of this, so I can't spot the strengths and weaknesses of my reps on my own yet, but I hope that the look of others can help me figure it out.

To answer your question, I think this is the first version of DSN's 026, I bought it last september.

But when you say that the movement is 100% swiss, is this because it's *really* swiss, or because it's 100% a clone of a swiss movement ?

Thanks again for your help.

Really Swiss, not a Swiss clone.

Does your watch have a sandwich dial?

Do you know where I could find a pic of a gen version, just to compare ?
I only found pics of panerais with open case backs:

Yes, it's a sandwich dial, so if I remember your previous post, the movement is wrong.

Your first picture would likely be the correct movement version (that decoration style started with H series). The second picture is the graffiti style decoration that was E-G series watches.

I haven't seen any pics of the 026 re-issue movement, though. I would assume that it would be the same new CdG decoration.

Ok, good information.

Is there something else I should know about this movement ? Maybe about reliability, or anything else you may think about ? :)

The movement should be rock-solid, as it's an unmodified Swiss 6497. Excellent movement and excellent watch. Good choice!
