Disaster...my 196 fell from the top of a locker...

onto the concrete floor of the lockerroom. I can't even take a picture of it...I get too depressed. It is gone...my only PAM rep...I loved it so.

I bought it 6/05, so not a bad life for a rep. I wore it a ton, loved it. Now my dilemna, do I buy another asian 196, do I upgrade to the swiss 196 and risk the wrath of my wife for spending $600 on a rep, or do I go with the 250 asian or swiss?

I also love the PAM 89 GMT...do I bag the chrono all together and go that route? Too many decisions...not enough $$$...stupid locker... [smilie=cussing.gif]

I know how you feel.....my Breitling Navi fell out of a winder and off my night stand....broke the crown stem....I almost threw up....luckily I was able to get the part and I can get it fixed...sorry to here about your PAM, that really sucks it's so messed up. Hopefully you will replace it soon

How/What is the damage(s)? Can there be any way to fix it?

yeah..wat's the damage?

i've the 250 asian, the 88, the 196 asian and the 188 swiss 7753..

the 250 has a diff look to the 196, it's more subdues, less bling, less eyecatching, etc..i personally like the 196 better but the slow beat movement is an eyesore..the 250 asian is of EXTREMELY high quality..the finishing is excellent, the dial is beautiful and the movement is smooth as silk..~but it is too subdued..let me know if u want a comparision shot..

the 188 i have uses the older case..don't quite like the newer cases tho, so i'd suggest u stay away from it..

the 88 is an awesome watch!! let me know if u want photos, i'll post it here..think i've a review somewhere around..do a search..unfortunately the 88 is in SG now, so i wun be able to do comparision shots w my 196 and 250..

i think u'll like the 88 since u like the 196, they have almost the same character...

Very sad.. it hurts when a nice watch is damaged..
No chance it can be repaired??

If not.. asian movements are not bad.. and way less bucks..
I have a Swiss 111H that just stopped dead.. took to local
watchmaker (butercher, more like it..) stopped dead again..
thinking to send to vaccum..

The watch fell flat on the crystal from about 8 feet. The crystal shattered, every hand came off the dial and the crown guard broke off. The I don't think it's salvageable - I'm probably going to take it apart for fun - I'm a longtime lurker going back to the original RWG days, but I am no horologist. I just bought a set of tools from Narikaa, so it will be a good way to break them in.

As for the new watch, I'll have to look again at the 250 - and the 88. The panda subdial sort of bothers me - but I still love the overall look of it and the 89, despite the blue face.

Azgjav, I'd love to see the photos you have - thanks for offering.

Anyone else have thoughts? I'll need moral support tomorrow when I take the watch out of the suitcase...since I dropped it I put it in my travel bag, came home from my business trip from last week and still haven't even unpacked it...need to let go...lol :roll:

I will make you feel better. Within one week of finishing mods on a 2893 Power reserve (relume, Jimmy CG, Lello crown and Palp PVD) I dropped mine on the street. It's off again for another PVD recoat and I am shooting for Christmas. By the way, save up and go for an original movement PAM - 2893 GMT, PR or 7753 196. My favorite at the moment is 7753 196.

now, here're some photos for u..

pls note that my 196 has been modded, fitted w a modified swiss 7750 w/o a sunken datewheel..the chrono seconds hand broke of its stem, so i'm using one from my damaged 212..

they are really v different watches..i personally prefer the 196..
